Resort Thread STAR WARS: GALACTIC STARCRUISER Official Information & Questions Thread

A couple days ago I came up on the 60 day reservation point before my reservation so I called the star cruiser to add the lightsaber build for the excursion to Batuu. During the call the representative also asked if I wanted to add the cantina to my itinerary. Both were then added by the star cruiser team and the process was pretty easy and I had good choices of times for the excursion day. The reservation does list in MDE as "Batuu Excursion: Savi's Workshop" and "Batuu Excusrion- Oga's Cantina" so it does seem they may have some designated spots to allocate during the excursion times (which are during normal park hours).

This is very helpful - thank you for reporting.

I wonder how that will
Happy New Year fellow galactic travelers.

The representative also told me about some play testing they had done with their children at the hotel in some of the storyline experiences and that she believed guests will be very happy with the product and will see where all the money is going (I realize it is a Disney employee, but I was glad they were not trying to manage/lower expectations). The representative also said to expect more information and for the star cruiser to reach out a couple weeks before the voyage. It sounded to me like it would be a direct communication, but I know it could also just be the itinerary added to the Disney Parks app.

I wondered how that would work...we have May 4th sail date, but Batuu is on the 5th so we have some time till we can book our Batuu stuff. I also wonder if they will have any special fastpass times for the excursion. Thanks for the info, we were a little stressed about not being able to make a reservation for Savi and Olga's

Getting cold feet… I can do 6 nights at a premier universal hotel (express pass included) with military season passes for 4500$…. Which is 3000 less than my standard room in star wars…… with disneys respond to the issue and how they showed nothing about it during the parade special….. Disney isn’t standing up for the star cruiser which makes me wonder if it is worth the significant financial risk.….. 20 12 hour shifts is a lot to trade for 2 days where 5 hours of one of those days is in a park I have been to before…. With a ticket I can’t even upgrade to at least accommodate the rest of my vacation.

I hear you. I cancelled a few days ago. Our PIF date was too close to the opening of the resort and I want to wait and see how the opening goes to get a sense of the guest experience before I commit to $7K for my family of 3 (we had a Galaxy Suite booked). I also started comparing it to the vacation we just took to WDW over the holidays. We did 6 nights in a 2-bedroom, grand suite at the Swan, dining, etc. for about the cost of our room on the Galactic Starcruiser. We are also annual pass holders, so the included DHS ticket that can't be upgraded is a complete waste. Plus, we've been to Galaxy's Edge several times and have done Oga's and the lightsaber build, so, unless the hotel itself is a knock-your-socks-off experience, I think we will pass. I agree with you - we are less than 2 months away from the opening and Disney seems to have put a lid on marketing the hotel which seems so strange given the hype that normally surrounds the opening of a new WDW experience (new Fantasyland and Galaxy's Edge comes to mind). Something doesn't feel right and until I have more info, I can't spend the equivalent of a week's deluxe vacation for my family on, essentially, 45 hours (minus time spent in DHS and sleeping!) on the Starcruiser.

If talking to a real human is that difficult then maybe this interaction isnt for you!

Even though I was able to talk to a human. ;) I'm still concerned about how the pricing isn't wide open like the other resorts. Were you can see your options and price differences based on date, room selection and number of people. I personally find it a little shady. But hey I'm just one person with an opinion. I honestly was sticker shocked by the whole booking. But I promised 2 super awesome young men that we'd be doing this experience. But like a few sentiments here I'm concerned. That I'll end up feeling like a fool whose money has been parted from.

Good point about the “hidden” pricing. Moving my trip from April 22nd to September 23rd did not change the price by even a penny. Yes, they’re both weekends, but you’d think that the fall lull would reduce the pricing a bit like it does with the hotel rooms. Guess they've got some other pricing system…

For the price they are charging there should be little to no hesitation on your part for wanting to experience this. I think you are answering your own question. all signs point to you are paying a significant amount of money at this point to say you were one of the first to experience this and maybe for some bragging rights but I dont think there will be much to brag about from what I have seen.

I think about all the cool ideas they could have done at this hotel. A reenactment from empire strikes back where you open the door to go to dinner and Darth Vader literally uses the force and takes your blaster from you hand and you get to eat with Vader, boba fett and some storm troopers in a tense environment instead I'm not sure what really is Star Wars about the Star Wars hotel?!

I would go to universal and wait until you hear some reviews unless you want to be one of the first to experience to have nothing spoiled for you.

6 nights at a Universal "premier" hotel? Yeah, no thanks. There is nothing premier about any of their hotels. We have stayed at Portofino, Royal Pacific and HR and they are not even close to rated 4 star. We enjoy Universal but the hotels leave a lot to be desired and couldn't imaging spending more than 2-3 nights.

They did disclose the full "price" for each of the departure dates and room types... after a fashion. They posted the DVC points charts for this back on October 7. From what has been reported here and elsewhere, one point equates to a cash price of approximately $8.14 or so. [FWIW, this is about the same exchange rate used for the other DVC point exchanges such as ABD, Disney Cruise Line, etc.] There does appear to be a slight variation from date-to-date, but generally speaking the points charts give us a fairly good idea of the established cost structure for each date and room type.

I read somewhere that one of the reasons they force you to call to book the GSC is that Disney wants to make sure that it is 100% clear what this experience is all about before booking. From what I am reading from various posters here on the Boards, it is clear that some people are still under the impression that this as just another hotel stay, but with Star Wars theming. Hard to believe, but that does seem to be what some folks are thinking. I think Disney is just trying to head off any potential issues at the pass.

I like Uni hotels, but there isn't anything I want to do there for a week. Three days would be more than enough. Yes they are in the sweet seat right now, charging mostly reasonable hotel prices with free express pass thrown in for the top tier. Maybe when the new park opens (although personally Nintendo isn't that interesting, I wasn't ever a video game player, but it will draw plenty of new guests). If you have a car, you can also visit other parks in the Orlando area once freed from the Disney bubble.

StarCruiser Galactic DVC points price comparison isn’t wide open pricing that I was referring to. Not everyone is a member of DVC. What I was referring to is your normal Disney World resort pricing calculator where you can click view room rates, select your dates, the number of adults and children, and be able to view your pricing on your time at your own leisure. Add/remove an adult or a child, add/remove a room, change from March to September. Disney is putting their customers at a disadvantage and allows for the potential of hidden variable-based pricing. News outlets can’t report price changes based on viewing the website.

After agonizing over the decision for over a week I finally cancelled my reservation for Galactic StarCruiser. After seeing the promo videos I just cant risk that amount of money for what Ive seen so far from Disney on this. I am wondering if the buzz has completely died because when I booked I was on hold almost 2 hours and today to cancel (same phone line) I got through in 6 minutes. What are your thoughts on the Starcruiser? Is it DOA?

Will there be a restaurant in the resort based on what the Empire deluxe officer club or where outpost rebel scum quick service one?

We kept star wars because it’s new (we have done universal a couple other times and Disney parks many many times) but my April 4th date had to move to the 8th due to work….. I really really really hope it’s worth the 7500$…. Time to double down my costume sewing!

Keeping with the cruise mentality the Starcruiser is projecting, I wonder if guests can opt to stay on board rather than take the excursion to Galaxy's Edge.
