We will be in HS for the first day of Star Wars (home the next day), and the only reservations I could get to see the Star Wars Characters is for 8:00, for 2 people. I am going with my mom and my 5-year-old. If my mom saved us seats at Fantasmic, is there any chance we could meat the characters really quickly and make it to the show with my mom? Since there are only 2 of us, maybe they could seat us early?

No interest in enjoying the meal, ha! Would probably eat earlier and just grab some dessert while waiting for characters. What time would we have to leave to get to our seats on time?

If you leave early enough to see fantasmic you will miss at least half the characters likely. It is unlikely you will actually be seaterd on time but even if you are generally they expect it to take a full hour to get all the characters by your seat. You need to choose 1 or the other to see that evening. Even if you have seats saved if the theater is full they won't let you into fantasmic. On the off chance it is a low night at fantasmic to just walk there with a five year old and get to the seats you need to leave the restaurant by 8:30.

Well shoot. Even more reason to root against my husband's bball team (won't have this problem if we go the previous weekend, which we can do so long as the team doesn't make the finals....) :-P

Have to agree. No way to enjoy either with that kind of rush.

You could always do the second fantasmic. There are also symphony in the stars fireworks as well.

Star Wars Dinner is a premium event buffet ($57.99 adult, $34.99 child). That's awfully expensive just for desserts and especially if you leave without seeing all the characters. They come to the tables in a planned route so there's no way to quickly see all of them. I would really try checking online for an earlier reservation or plan to go to the second Fantasmic!

They won't just let you meet the characters and grab a few desserts, the characters have a route they follow in the restaurant. You'd have to wait to see them all.

Good news -- I was able to snag a reservation for all 3 of us at 5:45, with Fantasmic passes too! Yay, and thank you all for your input!

Great!
Even with the F! "passes," be sure to arrive at the F! theater by at least 45 minute before showtime.

Yes, especially during busy times like Star Wars weekends. I once showed up 35 mins before Fantasmic on a busy day in the park and ended up in the standing room only area holding my 5yo niece for the show. Not fun at all!

Thankfully you will have your Fantasmic passes but I would still plan the 45 mins early timeframe.
