Good for them for "fighting back"!

By the way - I almost hate to say this - but does anybody else think Star was better looking before she lost the weight? He body looks great - there's just something about her face and eyes that looks "off" about her now.

I thought this too, i think it's her eyes. they seem to bulge out now. at first i thought it was her make up but i think since she's not as plumped up in the face, they stand out more.

I found this video of Barbara this morning.

scroll down the article and click on the Video link...

Our abc station didn't put the View on due to all the flooding. The local news was covering the road closures.

I missed it this morning. Thanks for the link.
Wow! Her tone of voice and mannerisms spoke volumes!! Barbara Walters is a powerful woman and she made Star what she is today. You don't bite the hand that feeds you. She was willing to go along with whatever Star wanted to do to make it look best for her but she just had to make it a huge drama. Sounded to me like Star Jones is a victim of her own plus sized ego. :sad2:

YOu are so right as her body got smaller her ego got bigger. Maybe she needs to go on an ego diet! This should do it. I hope she is replaced by a minority or she will be playing that card next and we ALL know that is NOT the case in this situation.

She does not make an attractive skinny person that's for sure!!

Maybe we don't know everything. Maybe they were losing viewers because of her.

*raises hand* I stopped watching a few years ago because of her. She was always obnoxious and over the years as she started getting more and more "famous" it just increased. I barely watched, tuning in every now and then, when she got engaged that was it. Couldn't tolerate. Once every few months I catch part of an episode when they have a guest I want to see, and ugh, she still gets to me. Even how long after the wedding she STILL makes sure that no matter what she's doing that her ring is always visible to the camera.

I might actually start watching again now. Good move on ABCs part getting rid of her.

Well, honestly I don't know what you'll are watching? I watched the video and she sounded gracious to me. She thanked everyone, including crew, and made a point to specifically thank BW. I rarely watched The View as the women just seemed too liberal and catty for my tastes so I don't know what SJ has done to alienate so many viewers but does anyone really think Rosie is going to bring in viewers??? That's pretty funny. It was only 10 yrs ago that I was watching the Rosie show and loving her. Boy, did she ever undergo a complete change. She's a far, far cry from the "Nicest person on tv" vote from many years back. I see many here don't like Elisabeth but I wonder why she wants to be there?

Here's what people thought about the announcement of Rosie joining The View: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1097817&page=1&pp=15&highlight=rosie+o'donnell

I think IF SJ was coming across gracious as you state...then it is because she was TREADING carefully because BW and the VIEW asked her not to say ANYTHING and she completely devied them and made that announcement....not gracious.....more like coy and careful.....but she did it anyway!

I loved Rosie years ago and mainly how giving and generous she was to sooooo many people and ALWAYS to the audience! I am looking forward to seeing Rosie. Rosie will be a reason I will NOW tune in. :thumbsup2

Does anyone remember how they treated Debbie Metanopulous when they fired her? I had just started watching the show and one day Barbara just announced that Debbie was doing "other things". The truth was that Barbara didn't like her. I always thought that it bothered Star the way they treated Debbie and maybe she just decided the world should know how the View treated her.

All these years Barbara has acted like they are all such good friends and she loves them all. Guess that is only true if the ratings are good.

I never liked Lisa Ling, she never said anything remotely interesting. At least Elizabeth does get her views across, I don't agree with any of them, but I do enjoy talking back to her. I'm not the only person who talks back to the TV, am I?

I like Star and I don't always agree with her either, but I always found her interesting. It will be interesting to see who they replace her with.

And I think Star knew exactly what she was doing yesterday. Also I don't think she made it sound like it was her idea to leave, but it was her idea to announce it on Tues. I had taped it and you can see during the first segment how preoccupied she was, I think she was nervous about what she was about to do. I for one wish her good luck in whatever she decides to do.

I have an old "enquire" type magazine (I want to say it's called STAR) LOL in my bathroom and ya know what, her leaving was in the magazine waaaaay back in March (date of the magazine. I think I need to toss it LOL). Kinda funny to read it the same time this all came out.

From what I read online her contract was not being renewed... and she knew it back in March or April. She was suppose to be done in July? Kinda crappy how she went about doing it

Same here.

As for Rosie, I can't stand her since the Tom Selleck "incident". Now with Meredith gone and Elizabeth still there, I don't think I'll be watching it anytime soon.

They didn't renew her contract - ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with that. They have that right just like she has the right to not accept any new contracts. They ewere even gracious enough to allow her to say he was HER idea - they absolutely did not have to do that. Star's ego got in the way and she made a first class **** out of herself. She thinks people will be "offended" at her being let go when in fact - the vast majority of people stopped liking her years ago.

I like Rosie but also hated what she did to Tom. I am hoping that she learned from that. It's not that I don't want to hear her political opinions - I just only like to hear her opinions when she realizes it's an OPINION not a FACT that everybdoy else must believe.

ETA: If she starts going on and on about her crush on Tom Cruise like she did on her old show - I am going to lose any shred of respect I have left for her.

Star Jones' karma is certainly coming around to bite her in her (much smaller with the help of surgery) butt.

As I've mentioned, I once crossed paths with her outside of a Barry Manilow concert. She was completely and unnecessarily rude to me. I think she deserves any and all negativity that she gets.
:confused3

I can't imagine any Celebrity doing that!! What did she do? :confused3

Looking back, do you think that was legit or just a cover?

I'm going to be the devil's advocate here...

Months ago the rumors started that Star's contract will not be renewed. It is/was one of those best kept secrets. Allowing Star to state her own story as to why she's leaving was Disney's/ABC's way of trying not to look like they were the bad guys. Star simply told the truth to People magazine, she felt like she was being fired. They didn't renew her contract. Effectively she was fired. Disney/ABC just didn't like being viewed in that negative light even though everyone and their brother knew it was a ABC/Disney decision not to renew. What Star shouldn't have done is announce her departure live on the air without prior clearance from the network.

After all his psychiatry-bashing and post partum depression pooh-poohing last year, I'm pretty sure Tom isn't on Rosie's list of people she likes or respects anymore.
