Can anyone tell me how the standard wilderness lodge rooms are? What exactly may i be lookin at out on my balcony?

I'd like to know too so I'm going to bump this up.:bounce:

I'd like to know also since currently we have a woodsview room reserved, but thinking of changing to a standard to save some money. TIA!

I have not stayed in a standard room there, but my understanding is that they can overlook parking and/or service areas and/or the rooftops of lower levels in the front. Not sure if they all have balconies or not.
Hopefully someone else will come along and have better info for you!

It's going to depend somewhat on when you go. We had a standard room in early December when Disney is pretty empty. It looked out on some trees, some small lakes and a little bit of a service area. We also were able to see the castle through the trees. I suspect that this may have been better than a regular standard view, perhaps because of the time of year and we asked for a better view when we checked in.
I believe that all do have balconies.

We had a standard room in '99. We overlooked the WLV construction. But, out our front door overlooked the lobby. We had a great view of WCC. 2 rocking chairs were right outside the door--we loved it!

We spent a lot of time people watching. It was fun to see the happy faces of those arriving and the sad faces of those leaving.

Was your room overlooking the lobby noisy? Could you hear anything from the restaurants, etc. below? The "people watching" sounds like a lot of fun. It's great to watch the actions of people on vacation!

....curious too. What is the noise level???

Hi! Maybe I can help you. We have always gotten a courtyard view and I love it. It is noisy when you have the sliding glass door open, but that is a given. When the door is shut, it is quiet enough to take a nap...:) . The last time we were there, we had another great courtyard view, but this time right above the lobby (our room door faced the lobby)and IT WAS NOISY! I didnt like it, and hubby tried to get another room, but all booked up. So with the doors shut and no TV on, it wasnt quiet. We just kept TV on most of the time. At nite when we slept, you could hear quiet rumblings of people, but the day time was horrible. No naps there. Ask for a room away from the lobby. If you get a standard view, you will see parking lot, service area, etc. Woodsview, well, exactly what it says...you might be able to see the water and the Electical Water Pageant thru the pine trees. If my description is a little off, then forgive me...I have only had courtyard views. But from what I have seen of the other rooms, Im close. All rooms have balconies except lowest level rooms...they just have little porch with 2 chairs.

Have a great time! You will love the WL!!!:Pinkbounc

hello pixiebelle, I booked WL courtyard veiw for June. You said something about your room near the lobby. Was that a courtyard veiw also? Could you help tell me where I need to request a room? I would like to be as close to the pool as posible? I do not like alot of noise. Thanks corvair

Hello! just tell the CM upon arrival that you would prefer a room AWAY FROM the lobby. You can get rooms that are away from the lobby with a courtyard view that are very quiet. You might even want to call them.

You can get a floor room w/a courtyard view right next to the pool, but the view is not the best. I like the 5th floor view. Just ask for one away from the lobby. And yep, the ones away from the lobby have great courtyard views. Well worth the extra $$.

Good luck!

So there are courtyard veiws near the lobby? Would I call WL direct or the number I called to book the room? If we are on the bottom floor can you walk right out to the pool or do you have to go outside from inside the resort? So you think 5th floor is nice? thanks for your help

...I definitely cannot afford to upgrade to a courtyard view, as we will be staying for 10 days and 9 nights (TWO rooms, too). I am not as concerned about the view as I am about the possible noise...could you suggest something lovely that would be considered a standard room? Would rooms that are on a higher floor less be noisy? (I really like the idea of being able to walk outside your room and sitting on a rocker and PEOPLE-WATCH)

One last ?? - Is there such a thing as a std room with a king bed and bunks....???

We stayed in a standard room at WL in January. Our room was a lobby room, we were right above the area where you check in. It was not noisy except for Sunday morning and Whispering Canyon was packed - but it didn't wake us up. We had a balcony that over looked rooftops and WLV. I liked this room because it was really close to the elevator and I loved sitting in the rockers outside our door watching the lobby and Whispering Canyon. We've had Courtyard and Woods view there also and they are all really nice.

We had a room that overlooked the lobby and I never heard any noise inside the room. I liked the convenience of being so close to everything.

...I like that word....what are those rooms called - "lobby view", "lobby entry",(or rm #'s please....!)

PS - I still need an answer to my ??? - any rooms w/bunks and a king-size bed in a standard room??(or is it available with just a queen bed?)

I believe the bed combo's are
A. 1 king bed
B. 2 queen beds
C. 1 queen and 1 set of bunks

nanalisa is right about the beds.

I guess the noise level is exactly when you go....we were there for the noisy part for MLK holiday and to me, IMO it was just too noisy.

The woods view is a nice view...and the regular view is just as good too...depending on what you find relaxing and how much you will be in the room. To me, having a courtyard view sitting on my balcony when the sun rises and the "morning foggy stuff" is lifting off Bay Lake is so dern relaxing, so that is why I always go for that view. But no matter what view you have, you are staying at one of the best places to stay.

And yea, if you want a ground level room, you can go out from your sliding glass door straight to the pool, very very convienent. You dont have to go thru lobby...only on the other floors.

And I just prefer 5th floor cause of, once again, the view. :)

You can call the WL at their number 407-824-3200 or fax in your request to 407-824-3232 and ask for a non lobby room (meaning lobby room: when you walk out your door, you immediately overlook the lobby)

Hope this helped you and I hope I didnt confuse ya even more!
