Standard Dining Plan question

Hi folks,

I'm doing research on the Standard DDP. In reviewing the plan itself it states that for 1 Table Service credit you receive a "Entrée", "Desert", and "Non-Alcoholic Beverage". I take that to mean an "Appetizer" is NOT included.

However, are "side orders" included? I'm looking at the menu for the Rose & Crown for dinner and the entrees are shown along with a separate price for sides like various vegetables.

I'm trying to determine which restaurant's to use our TS credits at and I need to understand all the variables. :coffee:

Thank you in advance for your help!!!

No, appetizers are not included. We get anyway, and pay out of pocket!
Yes, the side dish (listed on menu) to the entree is included; I.e. fries, veggies, rice, etc. And they'll normally due substitutions upon request.
:thumbsup2

Awesome!! :thumbsup2 We'll do the same with the appetizers. Gonna have to cover the alcohol anyway..:cool1:....right.

Thanks!

Just to be clear - accompaniments are included. Separately-priced menu items aren't, so you couldn't get, say, bubble & squeak included as your side dish.

Hi folks,

I take that to mean an "Appetizer" is NOT included. Correct, no appetizer on the standard DDP. Also the non-alc beverage is typically the standard fountain beverage - coffee, tea, iced tea, soda, lemonade. There are many non-alcoholic beverages that may or may not be included depending on the restaurant. Some, mainly Disney owned venues, may allow additional choices, others, esp the third party restaurants will adhere to just the fountain beverages. You will need to ask if you see a beverage that interests you.

However, are "side orders" included? I'm looking at the menu for the Rose & Crown for dinner and the entrees are shown along with a separate price for sides like various vegetables. Sides that are included in the description of the entree are included. For example, if you order the NY Strip steak it comes with onion rings, green beans, mushrooms and red wine sauce. Usually you can substitute a side that's listed in the description of another entree if the side for your dish doesn't appeal. Farther down on the menu is a separate section of side dishes with a separate price point, but if you want this you will have to pay OOP.

My answers in red. Also, here's a link to the allears R&C menu:

Sides that are included in the description of the entree are included. For example, at R&C for the Filet Mignon it comes with mushroom risotto, pickled pearl onions and truffle butter sauce (per the menu on allears.) Usually you can substitute a side that is listed on another entree if the side for your dish does not appeal. However, farther down on the menu is a list of side dishes with separate price points (e.g. poutine

Uh, I think you were looking at the Le Cellier menu, maybe? The spirit is the same, but the menu items may have been changed to protect the restaura ;).

Farther down on the menu is a separate section of side dishes with a separate price point, but if you want this you will have to pay OOP.

So the fact that the side dishes on the Rose & Crown are priced separately means they aren't included in the dining plan..............hmmmmmm

Thanks,

Doug :goofy:

This is from allears.net. The Rose and Crown Dinner menu. The highlighted items are included in the basic dining plan. The other items you would pay for out of pocket. When it says entree, desert and beverage, the items listed with the entree are included. Any additional side items listed separately are not. Personally, I love the Rose and Crown but prefer the lunch menu. But also do not think the lunch menu is a good value for the cost of the dining plan and would opt to pay out of pocket for that meal and use my dining credit elsewhere.

Many of the table service restaurants will have a separate section of items called "Side Dishes" or "Accompaniments" or something similar with price points. It usually follows the Entrees section.

Here's a menu with a clearer example of "Side Dishes" that you would have to pay OOP for at R&C - dishes such as Bubble & Squeak $4.99, Cauliflower & Cheese $5.49...Mushy Peas $3.99:

Right. Again, you should easily be able to substitute one included-with-the-entrée side dish for another - example: Chips for Crisps. Because they're both side dishes that are included with an entrée, not separately-priced menu items. Not hmmmmmm-worthy, just a basic fact of the Dining Plan.
