What do you use to clean your stainless steel sinks? I had porcelain before and always used Comet cleanser. But I'm afraid it will scratch my new sinks.

What works best for you?

Barkeepers friend I think its called. It's in a canister like Comet but its for Stainless steel sinks. We bought ours at Bed Bath and Beyond with a coupon, but our gropcery store started carrying it as well. Does a great job on our kitchen sink and it's under 5 bucks!

Barkeeper's Friend. I once used it after scrubbing with regular soap, being frustrated that it still looked grimey, and I couldn't believe how much more it got up. Who knew my sink could be that shiny :thumbsup2

Make a paste of baking soda and water. Works like a charm and it's cheap! Better than anything else I spent my money on that said "Stainless Steel Cleaner". :thumbsup2

Great tip, I'm going to try that. I have a new ceramic tile floor and googled cleaning it and found that vinegar in water with a squirt of dish detergent was recommended. So much cheaper than buying cleaning products if you can make then cheaply with what you have at home.

I use the baking soda trick most of the time, but I also wipe it down with Lysol wipes and dish soap regularly. Mine stays pretty clean most of the time. :)

Magic Eraser! And then follow it up with a rub down of vegetable oil. Shiny everytime nad less will stick to the stainless steel, especially water spots:thumbsup2

I don't have stainless steel sinks but the drain thingy is stainless and it cleans up beautifully with a magic eraser.

I use baking soda in the same way as you would Comet, and when I want it to be blindingly shiny I spray Windex afterward and wipe.

mr. metal you can find it at walgreens I think one bottle maybe 4 bucks but it will last you forever and ever like 5 years plus and it leaves sink like new.

fill your sink with water and pour a 1/2 of bleach in. let it soak for an hour.

drain it and then if you have 'left overs' pour some baking soda on it and rub it with a sponge.

honestly i usually only spray a ton of vinegar on mine and wipe it down with a sponge daily. if you get rust stains from anything it comes off so easily with a little baking soda (this surprisingly works on plastic tubs as well, when you get a shaving cream rust ring!).

I generally use Barkeeper's Friend as pp suggested, BUT on HGTV Sabrina Desoto said for a GREAT clean when you need to impress, put Cream of Tartar on a cloth with some vinegar and rub.

WHOA! It made it look new. Then, she tossed lemons down the disposal for some lemony-fresh scent.... I tried it and the results were GREAT. It shined it even better than BKF :-)

I use Cameo and will use Tilex with a toothbrush to shine the drain...I hate it when it is "scuzzy".

We always put our citrus peels down the drain as well, smells wonderful!

Whatever you do, don't use steel wool. It leaves little pieces behind and then they rust. Yuck!

I use a plastic dish brush and 409 and/or Windex. Every once in a while I will use Comet (with bleach). The other household ingredient ideas sound interesting. I think I will try some of them.

I also use barkeepers friend on my sinks. I use stainless steel magic from bed, bath, and beyond sometimes too.

I was wondering what everyone uses to clean the rubber flaps that are in the drain over the garbage disposal. Ours look disgusting. How do yours look and how do you clean them? Sorry OP to ask this but I wasn't sure it deserved a new thread.
