Stacie's Journey for Weight Loss and the 1/2 Marathon Jan 09!

Hi Stacie,

Thats wonderful you are headed back to WDW! Where are you staying? That will be wonderful to spend time with family. I am sorry about the allergy thing, I guess its good to know what's going on. I am sure you will get settled in with a new plan for what works for you. And great job getting on the treadmill, 2 miles in 30 minutes is awesome, way to go! Have fun getting ready for WDW, that's part of the fun!:)

Awesome that you get to go to WDW again Stacie :). You should have a blast there! Great job getting on the treadmill girl! And you kept a really nice pace. Keep it up!!! :thumbsup2

Hope you had a great weekend.

Good Morning! Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Wish I had something positive to report, but I don't. I never made it on the TM for the "long run" yesterday. I was extremely tired and just not motivated. I knew I needed to do it, but for some reason I just could not make myself do it. Part of it is that my hip flexor is acting up again. Yes. Can you believe it! My lower back down into my right cheek is hurting too. That is really frustrating to me. Didn't bother me at WDW. I've been back 2 weeks now. I finally get back on the TM, do a few miles...MOSTLY walking and I'm hurting! :confused3 I just don't get it. It's very frusting and I wonder how in the world am I going to work on my base and then start increasing and preparing for the Minnie w/ all this going on... ugh. I go the chiro today so hopefully that will help.

This is such a busy week. Work is soooo hectic. Plus we fly out Thursday for WDW so I know I won't get my workouts in like normal just because of having to work longer hours, the travel, WDW itself ( I know I won't workout there)... So then I'll be 3 weeks behind in my training. ugh.

I really hope I have not bitten off more than I can chew w/ the Minnie.

Honestly, I'm not in a great mental place right now which I'm sure is impacting it. I'm having a hard time pulling myself out of it. I feel totally taxed, drained and beat down. Sounds fun huh...

I'm not even excited about going to WDW. We are going w/ Matt's parents and grandparents and I took on the responsibility of planning the trip for them. Fine...no problem. Then they asked us to go. Ok... but now, that's more money we are spending...room, food, flights... But we just could not tell them no. I feel like I will be stressed the entire time. I really want them to have a good time.

So...I will stop now, before my sour attitude and mood rub off on you guys...

Here's to hoping a week from now, I feel more  instead of  and :guilty:

I really do appreciate all you guys!!! :lovestruc

Stacie

Hang in there Stacie :)

Try not to look at it as 3 missed weeks of training...you still have over 13 weeks left to get ready, and I'm sure that's enough time for you to adequately prepare.
Glad to see you are going to the chiro today, hopefully he/she will make you feel better and enable you to get back out there pain free.

Sorry everything is stressful right now for you...hope it all works out for the better :goodvibes:

Thanks. :upsidedow I'm finally starting to not be so grumbly. I hate posting in my journal all the grumbly stuff. Sometimes though you need to unload and this is the "safest" place--if you know what I mean! :goodvibes

One of the biggest things too is my boss wants to travel to India, China and Russia. To go to these places you need Visas. Because he wants to go very soon, we have to get 3 Visas in 1 week. This is EXTREMELY rushed. Most places take 3-4 days each. I just hate cutting it sooo close!!! I should totally become a travel agent.

I do plan to make it to the gym tonight for some elliptical time. Hopefully I can release some frustrations this way and at least that will be one workout for the week...I'll try another new album I downloaded... I used the Oldies one on Saturday for my walk/run seemed to be descent. Maybe I'll try the "movies" tonight.

Happy thought for the day... ummm... I just got a refund from my orthopedist. Yay! Apparently they are no longer in my insurance "network" (not a happy thought), but I did get a whopping $120 back from them. Guess if I have issues, I'll be finding a new orthopedist.

Again..sorry for the grumblings... Hope you all have a great day!!! :hippie:

Hi, sweetie. Your chiro will get you straightened out and you will be able to pick up your training without missing a beat. If you recall, you were afraid you weren't going to be able to run the 5K because of your back/hip, but you did. So don't stress over this - you have plenty of time!

I'm sorry you are overwhelmed with another trip to WDW so soon. I understand about the finances, and about the pressure of making the trip turn out well for all involved. It will all come out okay in the end and you will have great memories of being there with Matt's family and seeing them have a great time in one of your favorite places!

Hope your day gets better. Love you lots!

Stacie.. HANG in there girl!!! I have missed you! And i can't wait to meet you in may, we are gonna kick some butt with both our sis's too! :)
Things will get better.. try to journal 10 things everyday you are grateful for -- anything at all -- it will help you see the positive more (learned that on Oprah years ago! ) ;) LOL But seriously, it works. Give it a try.
Just remember, you have friends here rooting for ya!

Stacie,
I just wanted to say hello - I see you on Kim's journal and, well you know, around, and it seems like we are running the same races in the near future! You've done amazing things and I have no doubt that you have more amazing things in store.

HI Stacie...

 I'm sorry you're having a tough time. I'll admit that I'm kind of in the same place! I know everything seems overwhelming right now. I'm just going to give you the advice that I get when I start feeling that way...a certain special someone on these boards is used to dealing with me when i freak out...

Just focus on one thing you can control...and takes steps to manage that situation. Don't look at everything all at once, otherwise it becomes too difficult to get your head around. Look at each thing that's causing stress and make a plan.

You can do this Stacie. You have so much time to train for the Minnie. I know it seems insurmountable right now, but you can definitely train for and complete that race. Just look at your training day by day and don't think about the total mileage. I had to do that with Goofy...and trust me it works. Just go day by day.

I know it's easier said than done, but we have so much faith in you. Hang tough girl.

Thanks!!! Glad to see you back Stacy and Welcome and thanks for stopping by Corinna! Scott and Susan...always happy to see your notes! Good Advice Amy.

Yesterday turned out ok. I made it to gym and was feeling better by the time I left. I managed about 35 min on the elliptical. Very good for me. I remember a few years ago when I could only go about 10 min on that thing! This was the first time I had been on an elliptical in a long while. At about 10 min I wanted to quite, but I made myself keep going. My "movies" play list help for sure! Kept me moving at the same pace. I managed to keep it around 65 rpm, which is probably pretty slow...I don't know. My Heart rate started out around 170, came down to about 145 and leveled off around 133/135. I really felt like I was working harder than that. I'm a "bouncer" on the elliptical. Some people are really smooth and move their legs really fast; I'm bouncy--like I'm actually running I guess is the best way to describe it. After the Elliptical, I decided to cool down on the bike. I did about 15 min on the bike--again at about 65 rpm. The funny thing... My heart rate on the bike was reading about 155??? Maybe the machines are off. That's where I was getting the reading. I didn't feel as winded on the bike, it felt more relaxed, but my HR was higher? I don't understand. But...anyway... I finished the bike and left the gym. I felt good knowing that I had gotten in a good XT routine last night. I got home and did a little core work...Nothing compared to Scott or Amy!!! ;) I did just a few of the exercises on Pilates for Dummies (3 actually) and then did about 30 crunches. It doesn't sound like much, but I can feel it just a little today. I know core is important so I'm trying to figure out how to exactly fit it in. I do like the pilates but I've decided that even if I do not have time to hook up the DVD player, I can do some crunches everday and fit in the pilates when possible. I'm sure my lack of core strength is definately NOT helping my hip flexor... Speaking of...

Did get to the chiro yesterday. They did the electro-therapy on my lower back, laser on one foot, ultrasound on the other foot and then did the ultrasond on the hip flexor. Saw the doctor, that went well. She said my right side was much more tight than the left. It's my right hip flexor and lower back that bothers me and that is the leg that is shorter, which just happens to be the leg you drive with... I'm sure my leg being shorter on that side impacts it, but I honestly think driving all the time now since Matt is still on a "no driving" restriction is HUGE. It's hard to say because I started training, moved to working in Cary and his seizures all started around the same time. I do know when went to Disney and I didn't drive for 4 days, that when I came back, my hip flexor was much better...

I've pretty much got our packing done. It's sitting out, just have throw it in a suitecase. It's only for 3 nights, so there is not too much to take. Now, I just have to remeber to bring our flight confirmations to work tomorrow so I can check everyone in online. You know w/ Southwest, you've got get in ASAP to get the A boarding...

Now, if I can just get all the paperwork done for these 3 Visas, I'll be in good shape.

Tonight I plan to Step and Aquacise. I guess it will depend on what Matt decides though. He agreed to bring his clothes and try the Step, but I don't know he will do I aquacise--actually, he can't...no swimsuit (though he could do something else while he waited for me). We may just do Step. If so, that's fine. (at least that's what I'm telling myself) I am such and "all or nothing" person, I feel like once I've decided to both, I have to do both or neither. It's like I can't be satisfied to just do one... :confused3 That's weird, I know. They are each 30 min classes and I guess I just feel the need to get in that hour workout.

Oh, today is Weigh-in for BL 4. It was OK. I'm down .4 from last week, but not where I wanted to be. I'm glad it's a loss, but it's still .4 from the "glide path" or weekly goal. I know my eating has not been great and I only got in a few workouts last week. Hopefully I can watch myself at Disney and not over do it... That will be hard!!! :goodvibes

Wow. This ended up being way longer than I expected. Sorry guys! I've had some long posts lately...

I am in a better mindframe today. Thanks for sticking by me!!! Hope everyone has a good day!!!

Hello Stacie

Nice job with the workouts yesterday! An elliptical/bike combo is a pretty tough workout. You were right IMO to be watching your HR and not so worried about the RPM's...that's the point of cross training, get that heart rate up there for a sustained period of time, doesn't matter how fast any of the machines are moving. As you progress, an HR monitor may be something worth investing for yourself...I used to track it daily and wore it for every single workout. It's a great indicator of how hard you are pushing yourself and they aren't too expensive ($50 range).

Do you feel better after having visited the chiro? That is interesting about the driving and seems to me to be pretty logical. Is there any way to shift the way you sit or something to help out when you are behind the wheel? Maybe move the seat closer?

Hope you guys have a good workout tonight!

(still jealous of your Disney trip! I had the best time ever there and am SO ready to go back)

Morning, sweetie. Glad your chiro visit went well. Hopefully they can help you adjust your driving to minimize the wear and tear on your leg. It sounds like you did A LOT of exercise to me - WAY TO GO! And .4 loss is .4 loss - at least it's a loss!

You are doing SUPER - handling the stress of Matt's situation without turning to food for comfort is super hard, I know, but you're doing it! I am SO PROUD of you - keep going, you're doing great!

Hope you have a good day - love you!

Susan

Hi all! I just wanted to post quickly tonight as I may not able to get on tomorrow...work...ugh!

I made it to gym (no Matt). I had a good 30 min Step Class. I think she picked up the pace a bit this week. Aquacise was good too. My calves and abs (by my upper rib cage...are those abs???) are sore today so I'm sure I will be tomorrow too.

We go to Wilson tomorrow afternoon. I have dentist appointment and Matt has and appointment too. We'll eat dinner w/ my mom and dad. I plan on taking a change of clothes so I can get in a 30 min walk/run. Then it's home to finish packing...

Hope everyone has/had a nice evening. Hopefully I can check in tomorrow night.

Oh...I do feel better after the chiro and she did have a suggestion...Roll up a hand towel and sit on it... Yep. She showed me how so I may try this. It's suppose to help you sit straighter so your pelvis is not tilted.

OK...all for now! Good night!

Stacie,

Great job with the workout. I love to aquasize, I need to find a gym that has that, to me its the nicest workout around. I'll have to try that rolled up towel thing. You are just doing so well, I love your 20 pound Wish Clippie!:yay:

You are going to get this goal achieved, I just know it! You can't be on point all the time, life happens, you have a lot of stress. The good thing is that you are still staying on track with some form of exercise even if its not the amount of intense training you know you will need. 13 weeks is a long time. And family trips are great, but they are stressful! It will probably go great, if not, its not your fault. Just enjoy yourself. You can make up the money and training time when you come home.

Have fun, and ride Expedition Everest for me about 20 times! When you go backwards, say hi to me, I wish I was right there screaming along with you!

Stacy,
I have had that same problem with driving - and it was worst when I was pregnant with my youngest and driving a 2000 Honda Accord - the food rest on the left was WAY far back compared with the pedal on the right, which led to sitting in a very tilty way, whether I used the foot rest or put my foot on the floor of the car. My husbands car was not a problem at all - so I totally nabbed his car! Hopefully the towel will help out - I may try that too, as my hips are always off, but at least now they take turns!

Way to plan ahead for your walk/run. That's making it a priority! Great work!

Morning, sweetie. Way to go on getting in the exercise (even without Matt there) and planning for a run today! I am SO PROUD of you for keeping up with it even with all you've got going on! I hope the hand towel trick works to help you feel better - a good chiro is a GREAT asset when you have hip/back issues, and I'm glad she is helping you.

Hope you get all the packing done quickly and are at the Mouse House having a great time before you know it!

Have a great day - love ya!

Susan

Nice job with the XT...and good luck with that run/walk today :goodvibes:

Hi guys! So...I am at my mom and dad's posting right now... My mom and I went on a 30 min walk/run and then we had a tasty dinner. Matt should be here in just a few minutes so we'll be headed home. We'll have to check on the inlaws to make sure packing is going smoothy and all then we'll try to get ourselves packed up.

So, this is it for this week!

Hope everyone has a good week and weekend! I'll be checking back in Monday!

Stacie

Have a great time Stacie!! :goodvibes we'll miss you around here.

And great job getting out there this week! You got a lot of exercise in! :thumbsup2
