Stacie's Journey for Weight Loss and the 1/2 Marathon Jan 09!

:hug: For the tough day Stacie!!! I hope things brightened up for you today!!!

As for the Pilates stuff...please be careful and make sure that you keep the following in mind...

1. IF you feel pinching or pain in your back....stop immediately.
2. At this point I'd recommend that you do NOT do "rolling like a ball", "neck pull", "spine twist". Also be careful with any of the twisting exercises, just be sure to listen to your body. You can do pilates...i have many clients with lower lumbar back injury such as yours...just proceed carefully :).
3. If at any time you feel your back "arching" then you are lowering your legs to much during an exercise. If you feel that arching...it means you are putting too much stress/load on the lower lumber. Be sure to pull the abs in and bring your legs in closer to your body and lower them to only 45 degrees...no lower than that!!!

Hi ya guys! So, last night I did 25 min of a Step Class (:ssst: shhh, don't tell my chiro! ) and I aquacised. I still have not managed the Pilates DVD..ugh, but maybe I'll take it to FL if our friends have a DVD player. I hope to get in some runs too while there if I get the ok from the chiro.

Scott--I know right, it is kinda weird going to FL w/ no Disney. At least I'll be back in a few weeks to get my fix! Why is WDW so addicting??? :confused3

Hopefully tonight, I'll go the mall w/ my mom and we'll walk it a few times for 30 or 45 minutes since I can't run. Today I weighed (yes, I just can't break the habit...) and I was up .6lbs. Now I think the lack of activity (and the pizza last night I'm sure didn't help) is catching up w/ me. Hopefully I can run soon. I miss it right now, but if it's too long, I'm afraid it will be hard to get back into it!

So, I think that's about it for now...

Hey Stacie-sorry to hear about the rough couple of days. I hear you about missing running.....I haven't run since the weekend, and I feel so guilty!! I never thought I would say that either!!! I am sticking to the XT but it has been hard not to run.

I hope you have a good time in Florida this weekend. I agree with Scott...us non-residents should not be able to visit florida without WDW!!!!

Hang in there!! We are almost there!!

I won't tell you chiro, but please be careful. You are still healing. Ok, I am out of nurse mode.

The weight gain is probably water weight. Pizza is high in sodium. Drink some extra water.

Quick update! Yesterday we went to Wilson. My mom and I walked around the mall for 30 min while Matt was at his appointment. Today NO exercise and none tomorrow, but... I did go the chiro and I can SLOWLY start to run again. She told me to decrease my time and speed. I explained to her that I am running about a 15 min mile. I can't run much slower! :laughing: So, I'll be testing out my new running shoes this weekend. Hopefully no numb feet, but I'm not holding my breath!

Hey Stacie--glad to hear that the doc gave you the OK to run a little...make sure you take it easy and don't push it too much. Hope the new shoes work well this weekend, hopefully they are the answer to the numbness.

Hi guys!!! Not too much to report today other than I want Coca-Colas and junk food!!! What is this? It's not TOM but I really want to eat bad right now!

I'm so ready to get to FL. Somewhere warmer!!! I'm taking my Pilates DVD and my running shoes! We'll see how a few runs feel. Right now the outside of my upper right leg hurts, not where it has been hurting previously, but it's moved to the outside of the leg. :confused3 Kinda weird. I'm hoping I only slept on it wrong...

So, we're off to FL here in a few hours. I'll be thinking about you guys! No visits to the mouse this time, but only a few more weeks!!!

On one hand it's so lovely to see you're actually missing the gym!!!! Bet you didn't think you'd say that a few months ago. Well done for looking for trainers properly, fingers crossed they'll really help. Hope you have a lovely trip- mickey may well hunt you down tho for not paying him a visit :rotfl:

HI guys! We're back!!! WOW! Thanks for all the well-wishes!

We had a good time! The weather was perfect! Nice and warm, but not too hot! We really didn't do too much. We went to Cypress Gardens and rode a few coasters and I started my running back. They have a runnning park! It's a 1 mile course and it has colors to follow for 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile and 1 complete mile.

I've yet to get back to 30 w/ no stops and honestly, I feel really unprepared for the 5K. Granted, I way more prepared than I was a few months ago, but it's been so hard to get back into my routine. I just hope I can finish in time. I think I will be so nervous and excited I will have the adrenaline to help push me. (I hope!)

This time in 2 weeks, I'll be laying in bed trying to sleep in preperation for the 5K the next morning! It's coundown time!!! Does anyone else check accuweather.com for the forecast 15 days out??? :confused3

I hope everyone has enjoyed spending a little extra time w/ your families! Hope you all have a great upcoming weekend!

Hey Stacie-Sounds like you had a nice time in Florida! I am so jealous! I am dying to get down there to some warmer weather--I hate the cold!!

Glad to hear you got some running in while away, that is great. Cypress Gardens---wow, I haven't been there in YEARS!! That is so cool that they have a running park..pretty cool!

Don't worry about the 5k you are going to do great. Keep in mind that you can keep training for the next couple of weeks, you don't need to rest much before a 5k, maybe just a day or two. So you still have two weeks to train. You are going to do GREAT!!!

I went out today and decided to run (1st time since Monday and I mainly only walked then...) I guess I did about 5 min and felt like I couldn't do anymore! ugh! My last good run was about 3 weeks ago. This is not good. I feel like everything I've worked for has totally gone done the drain w/ this back/hip issue. I had pretty much not done anything for 2 weeks and then walked Sat/Sun/Mon and now today. Where is my endurance??? Maybe it's just mental, I don't know...

I'm going to try again tomorrow morning and see what happens.

Oh, did I mention I finally tried Pilates for Dummies last Sunday. It was really good! I was sore for 2 days after!

That's all for now. Sorry to complain so much, but I'm just feeling very unprepared for the 5K and this really doesn't help! Thanks for listening!
