Stacie's Journey for Weight Loss and the 1/2 Marathon Jan 09!

Good Morning All! So...yep, we had a busy weekend! My Uncle's wife had a baby this weekend so we went to Wilson on Saturday afternoon (about a 1/2 hr away) to visit them in the hospital. He is so cute!!! A little boy named Connor. Then we went to the get-together. It turned out to be pretty fun. Sunday, was just about as I expected. Busy in the afternoon then my parents over dinner (bbq chicken--ym!!!!) and after they left, my BIL/SIL and nephew came over to play pool. Didn't leave til about 10pm!!! ugh!

My biggest news for the weekend... On Friday, Matt and I met my BIL/SIL at PetSmart. They have a dog that is taking a class there. Now...let me preface the story with this... I don't particularly care for animals too much. Not that I dislike them, I would never want any harm to come them, I've just never wanted any of my own. I'm just not a pet person. I'd rather have kids! :) I was never allowed pets as a child and I've always been scared of them, from the smalled dogs, to cats, to birds...Just about everything. Now I'm not so much scared, as nervous... Ok--so, We meet them there and Matt gets to looking around. At this particular store, you can adopt cats. So guess what...We come home w/ a 6 mo. old white and brown cat. Kennedy is his name. :scared1: I was sooooo Stressed out I cannot even describe it. He's a pretty cat and very laid-back. You can just hold him like a baby and rub him (though, I've not gotten that comfortable yet) We have 7 days to take him back if I cannot adjust and Matt completely understands. Poor thing though, he's sick. Sneezing really bad! We (well, Matt) are having to give him medication. I still cannot believe we have a cat--in the house none the less!!! His home in my laundry room--not allowed to roam the house. So, now I've got to figure out how to do my laundry! Normally I sort in there and I'll have 3 or 4 piles of clothes on the floor. Not anymore!!!

Ok--now on to C25K... Did Week 3/Day3 on Saturday. We ran around town. It went, but that was about it. I got through it. Seemed Week3/Day1 was better??? That last 3 minute jog, I just kept wanting to stop. I barely made it through. (Maybe eating waffles a 1/2 hr before didn't help!) So, I'm not feeling too confident about startind Week 4/Day1 tonight! Lots more jogs tonight! Wish me luck!

That's about it for now!!! Thanks all for checking in and your continued support! :grouphug:

stacie.....book came in on friday...love it so far (very informative) well, i got 1 test down and 1 more to go this thurs.....they found 1 issue, but not really the one that i was complaining of but i guess i'll cross each bridge as i get to it.
keep up the good work training.....kitties are cool!! i adopted 2 kittens when i lived in florida and brought them up to massachusetts when i moved here. my boyfriend never liked cats before, and now they are his BABIES!!!!! they both have such different personalities but are sooooo cute. :) have fun.....glad to hear about the cutie connor too :)

OK--a quick update.

Last night Matt decided he couldn't handle the sick cat (he seemed to be getting worse) so we took him back. I was actually kinda sad. In the few days we had him, I had gotten attached and I wasn't the one that even wanted him!

Left work early yesterday to get my hair cut and get a pedicure. All that "Posh" haircut talking made me want to get mine cut. I did not go that short or for that look but just took about 2 inches off the back. Now it's right above my shoulders --actually the length I hate when I'm growing it out because it gets caught in my collar! :confused3

I did NOT do C25K last night. I am soo mad at myself! Matt and I had a little tiff (well a big tiff) and I just was not in the mind frame to do it. I got on the TM and tried, but couldn't do it. I just went to bed. So now my entire schedule is screwed up! :headache: :headache: :headache: I should have made myself do it, but I just couldn't. ugh!!! Oh well...I'll get it figured out...

Oh, plus I'm stressed about my flights in January. They are pricing out at $90 each way w/ taxes, fees... on SW, but I don't know if I should hold out for a DING or go ahead and book. $180 round trip per person is not horrible. I just don't know what to do. We'll be going back in May, but probably driving if my parents decide to go so I don't know when we'll be flying again (if i do book, then a DING comes out, I end up w/ a credit...).

ok--So, I think that is it... Sorry for the rant, I was just trying to make quick update to let you know I have not started Week 4 of C25K yet. Maybe tomorrow!

Hope everyone has a good day!
Stacie

Hi Stacie, sorry about the cat woes. Maybe you can adopt a healthier one in the near future? Once you adjust to the responsibity of a pet, they can be so much company and offer so much love! But then again, they cost a bunch and can be a pain in the butt! I am sorry you and Matt had a tiff, must be in the air, dh and I had words last night too. Hope you kiss and make up  !

Don't worry about getting your training workout in. Thats what another day is always for! You'll get back on track. Sometimes life just makes working out too complicated.

Hope today was better!

Stacie - sorry about the cat thing and your "tiff" with Matt.. Don't worry about messing up your days,it will all work out - mine is totally screwed up due to my cold. :(

As for flights, i would go ahead and book, at least you will be locked in. ;)

Hi Stacie
must be something in the air - DH & i are barely speaking!!!!
sorry the cat didnt work out, just hope the little thing gets better!
i'd book the flight too - but then i'm an impulse shopper, so my advise might not be the best!!!!
have a great week :)

 Stacie,

I'm sorry to hear about the cat situation and the tiff you and Matt had. I hope today is a much better day for you!

Hi Stacie...

Sorry to hear about the bad day yesterday! Hope everything gets resolved quickly for you.

About the training...word on the street is if you miss a workout, leave it at that. Don't go back and try to make up for the lost time/miles, just continue on like you never missed a thing.

Hope today is better for you!

Hi guys! Thanks. We made it past the "tiff" and things are better! Tonight I will attempt the Week 4/Day 1. Wish me luck!!! It's supposed to be rainy here today, so I may have to go it alone on the TM tonight.

I did make it to aquacise last night and it felt great!

I just got word that I may be moving to Cary permanently on Monday, so I'll have to re-think my schedule. It may take a few weeks, but I'm sure I'll adjust and find my groove. The good thing...there is a lake w/ about a 1.3 mile walk/jogging trail around it just a few minutes from the office. I think we may try to do that a few times a week after work. The bad thing... The commute is an hour each way! ugh! :sad2: That's an additional hour + everyday being sucked from my life! I was already having trouble finding enough time to get everything in! Oh, well...what do you do???

Hope everyone is well! Thanks for checking in!

Have a great day!
Stacie

Hi Stacie,
I am glad to hear Matt is better and driving, too bad about the cat because you do become attached even if you don't intend to.

An hour commute would be tough for me. It might be a deal breaker for me.

Don't worry too much about a missed workout just as long as you make it up and continue to work hard.

What books have you read about running- anything good?
Linda

Hi Stacy
good luck with the job move, the jogging track so near by sounds great, the commute must be a pain, cant really relate on that as i work 5 mins walk away!!

Hi Stacie,

Sending :wizard: for your job move. When I taught fifth grade, my DH and I carpooled to work and it was 45 minutes for me and about an hour for him each way. We were blessed to have some amazing conversations during that time, but it did make exercising a bit difficult. So, when my students went to recess, I would walk around the building as many times as I could. Sometimes, I would walk during my free period (kids were at gym, music, art, library e.t.c.) too. I hope everything works out for you.

Have a great Thursday!:)

HI guys!!! So it is official. I start in Cary on Monday. Hello 1 hr commute!

Linda--Thanks. I'm reading Marathoning for Mortal right now. Seems to be pretty good. Have you read it?

Tracey--a 5 min walk! I'm so jealous!!!

Tracy--Thanks, yeah, I may try to walk some at lunch to help out!

So...last night I tried Week 4 of C25K. I only managed 18 minutes. Those 5 min runs!!! WOW!!! I was already tired and I just kept wanting to quit. My mind just wasn't in it. I have got to somehow get to a better mental place--and soon!!!

That's all for now!
Stacie

Stacie -- good luck on your job move! Glad to hear Matt is doing better!
Keep working at the C25K -- you'll get it.. I know, easy for me to say, i am still on week 3.. LOL

As Peach (i think it was) (in Finding Nemo) would say -- "Find a happy place,Find a happy place!" :)

Ugh!!! Hour commute...I remember those days! Sorry to hear that!

Good job with that C25K program! Good for you on the 5 min runs. Hang in there...they'll get easier. I promise :).

Have a great weekend Stacie. You're doing great! I know you've had a lot of challenges these past few weeks but you can moving forward. It's very admirable.

Hang in there on the training :) Anytime you up mileage or time, it always seems so tough....but the more you do it, the more you get used to it and soon you'll look back on those 5 min runs and feel such a sense of accomplishment. :goodvibes:

And the hour commute....I'm all too familiar with that every day...mine ranges from 1 to 1.5 each way each day....stinks but is sometimes the necessary evil I guess

have a great weekend!

hope the commute isnt too tough!
some days i feel i can jog on the tm for ages & other days 5 mins kills me!!!
keep going, it does get easier :) but we still have good days & bad days ;)
have a good weekend :)

Hey girl. That's great that you're new office is right near a walk/running trail. :thumbsup2 The commute will fly by. Do they sell books on CD? When I had a 1.5 hour commute (about 8 years ago) I used to buy books on tape. :goodvibes

As far as running...do you listen to music while you run? For me, if I had to listen to myself breathing (more like gasping sometimes) or listen to every time my feet hit the ground - I'd go nuts. I get lost in my music, or tell myself....just go for one more song, then one more, then one more. Works for me, just a suggestion. :thumbsup2

Have a great weekend!

Good luck with the commute, Stacie.

Great job getting your workout in! I know it was tough, but you did it! Great job!:thumbsup2

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
