Stacie's Journey for Weight Loss and the 1/2 Marathon Jan 09!

:grouphug: Stacie -- great job this am!! Remember, you need to do what speed feels right for YOUR body - there is no point of going faster just to become hurt! Take it slow and like you said, after the program, you have plenty of time to work on your form and speed. It will be so cool to see how you do in Jan and then compare it to May!!

I can't wait to meet you and Susan in May - Now, my mom is walking the 5k, we talked her into joining us.. :goodvibes However, i plan on running the 5k.

Glad to hear the news about Matt - we are keeping him in our prayers, And you as well. :flower3:

Hi Stacie!

Congrats on your success so far with the training program!! You are doing so great!

I think that Bingham's philosophy with running is more based on time spent out there as opposed to miles logged (which makes sense if you think about it), so going at your perceived "slow" conversational pace is actually a good idea. He builds in one tempo (or faster paced) run each week so that you can start to build up your speed. For "normal" runners like all of us who aren't trying to shatter any records, it's more important to log the time/miles as opposed to running progressively faster each time you step out there. Sounds to me like you are doing exactly the right thing :goodvibes: And I bet that breathing gets easier at the end of the runs as you progress thru the program (it did for me...I can totally relate to what you were saying).

Hope your DH continues the road to recovery...

have a great day!

Hi Stacie!

WOW...5:10 am  YIKES!

You are doing so great and I totally completely agree with Scott about your running speed. The best thing you can do is just log those miles! Speed will increase with distance. Just keep yourself at a comfortable pace, stick with it and get the distance in, everything will fall into place. You'll be so amazed :). Running too fast, pushing too hard, too soon, can lead you to injury and that wouldn't be good :(. Continue to do what you've been doing....you seem to have a real grasp on how to handle the training.

Take care and have a great week! I really hope Matt continues to feel better! ((hugs))

 Stacie,

I can relate to what you are feeling. My trainer gave me a bit of a pep talk about not focusing on the what I think I should be able to do. I need to focus on what my body can do, and celebrate the improvements I see. You and I are building a foundation for sucess. You are doing an amazing job. Please don't sell yourself short.

Keep up the great work. With time, you will be seeing the numbers you want.

Beth

wow that's early to be out and exercising....you go! :) i'm up at 5:15am everyday cuz i start work at 6:30am, but as far as being pepped up to exercise at that time......mmmmm, i don't know....that's tough....i give u credit, keep up the good work!!
glad to hear that things are sounding a little better with matt, we are still all praying for you guys!
look forward to meeting you guys in may as well.....and p.s......you couldn't be more right with the whole "patience is a difficult thing" bit.....that is so true, but like you said....things seem to work out in the long run!

Good Morning my dear dis buddies! Thanks for all the nice words yesterday!

So...no training today. This working in Cary thing really stinks. It's cramping my style! I'll eventually have to start working here permanently in a few months and I'll have to adjust my training schedule--or just go to bed early, but last week and this week has really been off! I've only gotten in my C25K training! I really miss my aquacise!!! :sad1: This extra 1/2 hr to and from work seems to really take a lot of time out of your day! (plus these dr appts w/Matt) Since I have practically no vacation left, I have to make up my time, which stinks too! ugh!!! Why can't I just be rich and not have to work??? sigh... :goodvibes Or maybe become a pirate!!! pirate:

So...I won't be doing W3/D3 of C25K until Saturday... I highly doubt I lose any weight this week. Suprisingly, I did lose last week (see my new clippie!), but as long as I maintain this week, I'm ok w/ that! We've not eaten at home one night this week! Geez! I am so ready for things to calm down!!! Life! :confused3

Overall, I'm feeling ok today, just EXTREMELY tired. And the sad part is, I don't see it getting any better. I normally try to work 9 hr days M-Th and 4 hrs on Friday. Since I have to make up time, I'll be working 8 hrs tomorrow. No Friday afternoon nap for me!

Matt is doing ok. Still awaiting test results. But his spirits seemed better yesterday. Hopefully, things are looking up...

Amy and Scott--Thanks for the training insight!
Beth--I know what you mean girl! I just want to get out there and run all my troubles away, but my short little fat body says NO WAY!!! :goodvibes
Barb and Stacey--That is so cool that your mom decided to the 5K too! How awesome!!! Now, I've got to get Susan and I registered as a team (Matt's doing it too, He's registering as single)!!!

Thanks again everyone!!! You really help to raise my spirits.

Oh, what does LTO mean??? I've seen it in a few journals, but I just can't figure it out!

Hope everyone has a great day!
Peace out! :thumbsup2
Stacie

Good Morning Stacie! LTO = Life Taking Over/Life Takes Over.

 For being tired and worn out! Weekend is almost here. Hang in there!

Ah! Thank you! I just could not figure it out! Whew, I've had a big case of LTO lately!!! :crazy2: Now I can use it properly (and understand y'alls journals! :) )

Stacie, hope things start to calm down for you soon.. just try to remember to take a few moments to calm down each day.. I know sometimes it feels as if we are running around with our heads cut off, and we forget to just BREATHE! LOL :)
Like Dory says --- "Just keep swimming"! ;)

Have a good day!

 HUGS, Stacie. I applaud your patience, perseverence and strength.

Great job with the super-early morning running. :thumbsup2 I remember doing the same thing when I started the program. It's such a GREAT feeling to get out there and complete your workout first thing in the morning, isn't it? :confused3 As far as supposedly being able to hold a conversation...I think that comes later. It took me a while to be able to breathe properly and find my "groove" and be comfortable enough to "talk". I doubt that any beginner can conversate during their running spurts. :goodvibes

Keep at it, girl. You're doing GREAT.

Hey Stacie! Thats great that youre getting in your exercise early. I can't do it and I'm working far less hours than you! Have a good day at work today, only one more day... Tomorrow is Saturday!:woohoo:

Good morning! Not to much to report today. The weather is yucky here! Raining... No work out today. Had to come in to work early... I know I'll be so tired tonight, it won't happnen. I'll do C25K W3/D3 tomorrow. So, at least I'm getting my C25K in! Last 2 weeks have been off, but back on schedule next week! Yippee!!! Matt has been relased to drive now, so I'm back working in Clayton next week. Aquacise... here I come! :yay:

I was hoping for a pretty relaxing weekend, but I don't know... We are going to some get-together/party thing on Saturday...Not sure why. I really don't want to go and on Sunday, my parents are coming over for dinner. They never really stay long. Not that I would mind, but my dad is older and he's always ready to get home and sit in his easy-chair and kick his shoes off! :) Can't say I blame him though. I'm getting to be like that myself. I used to be "go, go go" wanting to do something on the weekend every night, now, I'm perfectly content to sit at home! I can foresee that after they leave, Matt will invite his brother, SIL and nephew to come over and play pool (they live next door). So, not sure how much relaxing will happen, but maybe I can catch nap on Saturday or Sunday!!!

ok--So, that's about it for now! Sorry for such long posts lately! I just keep typing and typing and typing!!!

Stacie - Glad to hear Matt is cleared to drive.. and that you will be going back to aquacise! LOL I know how much you missed it!
Hopefully you will get to catch up on a nap this weekend!
Have a great day!

Hi Stacie

Well done for still getting plenty of exercise in!

Hi Stacie,

Yeah! For Matt. That has to be a relief for both of you. It also allows you much more time for you. Good luck with c25k today. Enjoy your get-togethers.

Take care,
Beth
