St. Thomas beach excursion

I Have been looking at port adventures and I am just not happy with the ones disney offers for st. Thomas. Our itinerary shows that we will be in port from 7:45am- 4pm. Almost all beach type excursion are only 4-5 hours long. Now I know times for ports can change. However my husband and I would like to spend all day at the beach and not be limited to only a few hours. Has anyone used a resort on there own to do the beach for the day?

My husband and I went to Magen's Bay on our own. We took a taxi from the pier. There were restrooms, a bar and food available. There are plenty of taxis waiting around there to bring people back to the pier. Just give yourself plenty of time to get back because traffic gets really bad.

Also....if you can get off the ship ASAP St. John is an option. Take a taxi to the Red Hook Ferry, ferry to Cruz Bay, St. John then a taxi to one of the many beaches. St. John is just breath taking. It costs about $50 per person round trip and travel time is 60-90 minutes.

Super easy on your own in St. Thomas. First decide on which beach you want to spend your day (that will be the hard part) and then disembark as soon as possible, ask one of the Taxi "directors" which one is heading to that beach and hop on. Simple. We've done it on 3 of our last visits.

St john is fabulous. Most of it is national park. Trunk bay has some of best snorkeling in the world.
