St Thomas 5 star snorkel - details please

My mom and I have signed up for the St. Thomas/St. John 5 star snorkel. Could someone who has done this give me a few more details? Like a breakdown of the time spent ?

Is there time to just lay around on the beach?
Will there be time to run into the mall at the port afterwards?

We have done this excursion 2 times. Yhe first time in 2001 and the second this year 3/03. We took the one that leaves early, about 7:45 and returns by noon. We are not big snorkalers so we felt it was plenty of time. Some feel it is to short and you can have more time for less money by going on your own. My kids (DD19 and DS 15 now) enjoyed it and felt they had enough each time. None of us wanted to spend the whole day at a beach. The ride over to St. John is nice, the crew points out points of interest along the way and gives a little bit of island history. When you reach Trunk Bay ( which is gorgeous!!) you can snorkal right off the boat or ride a small boat to the beach. In my opinion it is worth the cost and is one of the most popular excursions offered.
