We plan on driving over to St Petes beach for a couple nights end of july. Does anyone have a hotel recommendation? I am looking for something mid price range, right on the beach. Also any favorite restaurants or things to do?? Thanks! :sunny:

Okay, this may not be the correct price range....

but I've always wanted to stay at the Don Cesar Beach Resort at St Pete. It was featured on the travel channel. I think you can book direct with them, or on Expedia.

They are situated on 7 miles of white beachfront. 277 guestrooms and suites. 6 restaurants and lounges. Plus an icecream parlor. 2 swimming pools, beach, and watersports, fishing and nearby golf and tennis. Garden level shops, salon, and boutiques.

Have fun wherever you end up!

The Tradewinds resort is also beautiful, they have 3 different hotels i believe. I love St Pete beach, my Dad lives there..we try to visit often!

We always go to the beaches between Clearwater and St. Pete. St. Pete probably has more hotels than the other smaller beaches. We have actually gone down and gotten a condo the day we arrived and only stayed about 3 nights. It was great. Check Superior Small Lodging website. They have great smaller hotels and condos all along the coast. Hope this helps. :sunny:

Take trip to Fort DeSoto Park if you want to experience a great beach and have a fun trip away from St Pete beach/Treasure Island scene. The North beach was 2005 Best Beach in America by the guy that does the Best Beaches in America. It is a hidden gem. Also check out the park for other activities and interesting items of note

Another good day trip is to go to Tarpon Springs and check out the sponge docks and there used to be a really great Greek restaurant there (though it may be pricey) More budget oriented folk can grab a qquick bite from several other Greek eateries that are there.

It is a touristy type of thing to do, especially if you like working boat dock, mediterranean food and stuff.

Also you might want to check out Ted Peters Smoked Fish in Pasedena (just a trip over the bridge from St Pete Beach). Awesome if you are into smoking and fish (and good quanitity). I prefer the mackeral over the mullet and its freshly smoked right off the boat.

Ted Peters Famous Smoked Fish,
1350 Pasadena Ave

It is close to the hospital there across the street. It is just a little shack (or it was), but great food.

Have fun,

Henry

PS I used to visit every summer near the corner of Park St and Central Ave.
