I have a favor to ask of all of you who have been following my PTR. The couple that lets us use their condo in Marco Island got some very bad news on Monday of last week while they were on a cruise (they had just reached Barbados). Their second oldest son was shot in Afghanistan where he is deployed. He survived, but he will be sent back to the States for further medical attention. Please say a prayer for the family.

I'm sorry to hear about your friends son. Did they have to make arrangements to get home early or was the son not going to be stateside right away? I can only imagine how hard it would be to get home on short notice, unexpectedly from the islands.

No, they stayed on their cruise which arrived home on Saturday. The son is being sent home sometime this week (I'm supposed to hear from my friend tomorrow with more details).

He was shot in the neck and it missed his spine by a very small margin; however, the bullet is still in him because it is too close to his lung.

We will be keeping the entire family in our prayers. Happy to hear it missed his spine; I hope once here they can remove it and his parents make it back home soon and be there for him. {When Joe was sent back to NC after the roadside bomb he did say that his treatment --out of all his treatment--was so much better stateside}. we will pray for a speedy recovery for this soldier as well...

Hi Kathy, I've been off the Dis for a few days but I'm catching up. I keep flipping to your post of those crab legs, I'm not a big crab fan but I would HAVE to try those! I'm off to go google the restaurant and see how far of a drive it'll be for me to check out.

How scary for that family. I'll keep them in my prayers.

Prayers for this family as they help the son through his recovery. Prayers for the son to have the best attitude and spirit he can have to help him work through it and for all the doctors and nurses who will help care for him.

Florida is really beautiful...palm trees, gorgeous flowers, etc.

It was a great trip--

We need wonderful trips and beautiful places every once in a while to help us get through all of our real life worries, burdens, and sorrows, as well as just the regular routine of daily life.

Prayers, hugs and pixie dust on the way! What horrible news to get when on vacation! I hope their son recovers from this horrible incident!

Prayers for your friends family. I hope one day we will not have to hear these kind of stories anymore. Until then, more prayers for your friends son and all of the other men and women over seas.

Thank you. I'm still keeping those fingers crossed for you.

Thank you!!!! :goodvibes:hug::flower3:

I will keep your friend and their son in my prayers. DH spent 6 months serving in Afghanistan years ago and I spent everyday worrying about getting that kind of call. I cannot imagine how awful it must have been to get it on vacation. I hope he is able to recover.

So, I went back a few pages to see what I missed. I was following along on FB. That hibachi looked really good! I could go for some of that right now! I'm glad you and Mark had a great time in Florida and got to spend time with your BFF! :goodvibes:goodvibes

Yikes! Prayers going out to them and the son especially. How scary for all involved. I'm sure they will all feel much better when they are all together again.

Kathy, sorry I'm just now seeing this! Will keep this hero and his family in my thoughts and prayers that he will make a full recovery! :thumbsup2

What a great update!

How lucky that you guys all found each other....fate is a funny thing isn't it? I love how you can meet people in the funniest ways...it's like it was meant to be:hug:

That food looks delicious!!!

Thanks, Queen. I truly thank my lucky stars for all the wonderful friends I have made here on the DIS...I love them all. But Nicki is very special to Mark and I (as is her adorable husband, Todd, even if he did screw up our going to Disney together this year :lmao::lmao:).

Thank you ALL for the prayers for my friends and their son. The latest I had is that he is doing okay and they are sending him home this week; however, they won't say when or where (we assume Georgia since that is where he was stationed). I hope to know more by the end of the week or over the weekend.
