HI
Am staying at SSR in September, can anyone let me know if there is valet parking there like at Boardwalk and beach club.

I don't think there is a valet service at the SSR. I believe each building has parking in front and it's a very short walk to your villa very much like OKW. -OOPS, I stand corrected-

The DVCmember.com website indicates that the following services are available at SSR:

Resort Services

Take advantage of a full range of amenities to make you feel at home at the newest Disney Vacation Club Resort.

Room Service
Guest Services desk
Nearby spa and health club
In-room babysitting
Convenient self-parking
Valet parking available for a nominal fee
Accessible rooms and facilities
Laundry facilities/services

However, I would call MS to be sure.

Far be it for me to challenge Doug and the official web site, but given how SSR is laid out - the front desk separate from all of the lodging buildings, and each one having its own parking right in front of it - it doesn't seem to be very valet friendly.

When we stayed at SSR in May - you basically parked right outside your building. I dont think there is (or is a need) for valet parking - but I could be wrong.

Actually, I suspect that the web site is wrong, so I would call MS if this is an important service. For example, I don't believe that room service is available (yet?).

There is an attendant stationed outside of the Carriage House. Each time we passed by they were always eager to help in any way. We never specifically needed help, so I didn't think to ask if they would valet park.

I agree that SSR is set up in a such a manner where self parking makes sense. However, many people expect valet service and bell service while on vacation. I think it should be offered. After taking a van load of luggage and supplies up in those hot elevators, I'd have gladly tipped generously to have someone do it for me! :)

No doubt, kweaver - when we were in there in late May, the heat & humidity were killer. But how would it work? Leave the car by the Carriage House (there isn't room for many) and then have the bellman take you and your luggage to the room? Nice - just like the Polynesian - but then you're car's far away. Have bellmen at each building? Impractical.

I just don't think that SSR is meant for valet - is valet available at OKW?

This is a little bit off of the parking topic, but I noticed that in-room babysitting was offered as a service. Does anyone know what the going rate for babysitting is and how the number of children affect the rate?

I understand. :D When we arrived on June 12th at 7pm, the temp was still 99!

My understanding is that valet is available at OKW (along with Bell Services). I'm not sure how it works, as I have yet to stay there. Are there separate valet and bell services staff at the other DVC resorts? Does one person handle the parking of the car and another handle the baggage? I generally do not use valet (bad experience with my car getting smashed at a wedding). Maybe the valet could just park your vehicle in front of the building for you rather than a separate valet lot?

Anyway, the chances of me using valet services is almost nil. I would use Bell Services if they would meet me at my vehicle with a cart and take everything upstairs for me. I also think there should be luggage carts near the elevator in each building.

Bell services are available at OKW. They will either unload you at the lobby and take them via cart to your building, or will meet you at your building.

You can also call for the same service when checking out.

I'm not sure of this because I haven't been to SSR yet, but could the valet parking be for guests that are just coming to use the spa????

We just came back from BWV today. During our 10 day stay we did visit SSR. It is a beautiful resort. You will need a vehicle to get around in. The buildings are spread out from the main theme pool and main building. Seems to me that the walks are alot longer than those dreaded BWV hallways!! The new building being built are also spread out in the open. maybe thats why they have parking lots in front of the building. For a family like ours, we are not interested in renting a car and rely on Disney for all our transportational needs.

The DVC member site also says that BWV has a guest services desk;) Which, I guess it technically does, it's just that no one works there. (this is in reference to Granny's thread).
