Quick question--I forgot to add water view to my initial reservation at SSR--I called back and wanted to add water view on and they indicated they could add "Downtown Disney" view--is this the same as water view?? I am stuck with whatever DD view is, just wanted some clarification....Thanks in advance!

Thanks for posting this. Since they are just now accepting reservations at SSR, these are the first posts we've seen about the "view types" that they classify there.

My guess is that they call the water view the "DD View" because that's the main attraction to look at. Kind of like the Boardwalk view..they don't call it the "Crescent Lake view".

Could there be water views at SSR that don't have a view of DD?

I'm not familiar at all with the resort layout.

I think the first building - some of it might not have a water view - but everything else should - until they expand the resort.

When I called back to request a water view, that's exactly what they told me...the water view is know as the DD view as it looks across the water to DD.

I am guessing that at some point after construction is complete (second phase) there will be a water view that doesn't look across to DD

The first four buildings (now nearing completion) will all look across the lake towards DD- thus the "DD View" designation.

The remaining 8 buildings will all be situated around a lake (but NOT the lake near DD) and will also all have a water view. It appears that SSR will have "DD" and "Water" view choices- and both of those will look out towards a lake.

Enjoy!

WOW! Sounds like we can't lose with those 2 views!

Thanks! That is what I would have guessed, but I was just wondering if anyone else had hear "DD View." I knew someone here would know....SSR in June--can't wait!

That will be nice for the fireworks. We will have to wait and see about the noise from DD. It will be nice to have those options though!

The fireworks at dd are only about 5min long
and they are working with sound barried walls

It almost seems real! It's nice to hear about how the resort is coming along. From what I remember reading, there are going to be 12 buildings opened in three phases, four buildings each time. Is that right?

The first four buildings overlook the lake to DTD, there's even suppsed to be a fireworks viewing place, but I do wonder about the noise level. Fireworks at midnight - every night. Why do they do that? I was rather confused last time I was there about why we were celebrating NYE in Oct. It's real gimmicky.

Here it is! 10/30/03

Actually, saying that they are 5 minutes long is fairly generous. All I recall is a few short bursts right at midnight.

But, given the fact that the SSR construction will also include a waterside fireworks viewing platform, it's not unreasonable to think that the fireworks will be expanded once the resort is open. I wouldn't expect anything remotely comparable to the theme park displays, but something 5-7 minutes long at midnight wouldn't surprise me.
