I went to meet my guide today and get a tour of SSR - I bought by mail in August.

Here's the info he gave me:

The $10 rebate does end 11/1 - a $5 rebate will be in effect for awhile afterwards, then they will probably go to MB.

The opening date is May 17 although they are telling owners purchasing now that it will be June 1 - I didn't get a clarification as to whether anyone could reserve for May 17 or just people who had bought before a certain date.

I got a nice SSR pin - I'll scan it and post it when I get home.

You REALLY get a great view of SSR while you are at DTD. That has sparked a lot of interest in people taking tours.

And yes I loved the models.

My guide is Byron Helgeson. He's been great, but he still cannot believe how much I already knew because of these boards.

I hate how fast the prices go up... BY the time I have saved my pennies, add-on points will be unaffordable! And I don't know WHAT is wrong with my hubby... He seems to think home maintenance is more important than MORE POINTS... Go figure.

We just bought recently and did not receive a pin. Has anyone else received a pin?

My guide left me a message yesterday about the looming price increase. Of course she said "You surely already know this because of the Disney Boards..." and that always cracks me up... This IS the place for the scoops! :)

Pooh, they are given out on the tours. My guide told me to come visit her, when we go and she'd get me one.

We took the tour before purchasing - maybe I should give her a call?

LOL! I bet he insists on eating every day, too. ;)

We got a couple of SSR pins while taking the tour in August.

We got pins (SSR & BCV) while visiting the models on Oct. 8. If you'll be a WDW, go ask for a tour and they will give you the pins. BTW, we got cotton candy also. The CM's were very nice!

Hehehe .... thank God my wife didn't mind when I spent the siding replacement money on a BWV interest during our August visit :) :D :)

I figure that a bit of deferred maintenance won't kill the homestead ... one more paint job instead of new maintenance free siding and we'll worry about siding in 4-5 years!!

Our guide is Byron as well. He is a classic gentleman!

We also got a pin each when we visited in October and toured the models.

DH and I toured and bought into SSR&S last Monday. There was no mention of pins. I was going into all the pin trader places looking for SSR pins. I will have to call my guide!!!

We did get cotton candy though.

We purchased 189 SSR points in the beginning of Sept. (It was actually our 10 year anniv. gift to ourselves!!) and we did not get a pin. But still looking forward to that first check in even with no pin.

We did each get a bag of cotton candy!!

Toodles!::yes::

My wife and I took the tour last week before we bought into DVC at SSR. When I got home, I saw the pin on Ebay. I called my Guide (Bobby Corsello) and he was nice enough to track down some and mail them to me. He said that the pins are for current DVC members that tour the SSR model.

Do you need to purchase 150 points to get the rebate? We are new owners, BWV,VWL, but all of a sudden I am wondering "should we do another add-on." Maybe it's just wishful thinking that add-ons get the rebate as well.

How many points does one need to add on at a new resort to have access to the 11 month booking window?

Thanks!

Bobbiwoz, it was a 100-point minimum requirement, I think. So if you can afford to add-on 100 points FAST, you can take advantage of the deal.

You can purchase any number of points over 25 as an add-on, but you can only book at the 11 month window with the number of points you have at that resort.

Thus, if you get 50 SSR points, you can book a stay 11 months out for up to 50 points.
