SSR Trip Report (detailed)

Thank you for taking the time to post your detailed trip report. We saw Saratoga Springs during Member Homecoming & liked what we saw then.

GREAT report!

I can't wait.

The one thing that caught my eye was that you got there at 11 and the DD views were gone. I'm sure that'll be the case for DH and I also b/c we aren't checking in until 7. But I'm determined not to have my vacations ruled by views anymore b/c I was getting a little obsessed with that! And in the end, your room had a lot of great advantages anyway!

Thanks again!

For those interested in the spa, when I asked for spa service discounts for DVC this was the list I was given. It states at the bottom of the list that these prices are a 20% discount off the regular prices. (I included their description of each treatment as listed on the sheet where it isn't obvious what the treatment is):

-Swedish massage (50 minutes): $80
-Mystical Forest Therapies (50 minutes) $100 "A Saratoga Springs Signature Series treatment. A calming, therapeutic combination of reflexology and Swedish massage will energize, resotre balance and relieve stress"
-Aromatherapy facial (50 minutes) $92
-Mustical Forest Body Masque and Wrap (50 minutes) $96 A Saratoga Springs Signature Series treatment! Powerful trace minerals and a custom blend of essential oils promote collagen renewal and stimulate natural tissue regeneration. Restore your state of natural well-being!"
-Hydro Massage Therapies (45 minutes) $84 "Wash the world away with your choice of hydro massage treatments. Each uniquely designed to soothe, revitalize, refresh, relax, and detoxify and rejuventate specific conditions! Your physical and psychological well-being is restored as you relax."
-Spa manicure (50 minutes) $40
-Spa pedicure (50 minutes) $52
-Disney Vacation Club Package $372
includes Hydro Massage Therapy of choice, Mystical Forest Masque and Body Wrap, Mystical Forest Therapies, and Aromatherapy Facial.

Wow! A $52 pedicure! Remind me to be sure I have a fresh one from home before I leave! And that's the DVC Discount!

Disneycrazed, was this your first experience to stay at a DVC resort? I am wondering what you thought about DVC versus staying in regular hotel accommodations.

Yes. This was our first stay at a DVC resort. It might be difficult now to go back to regular hotel accomodations. I really enjoyed having the space and privacy--especially as my son is getting older now. I loved having the kitchen, which we used for breakfast and snacks, and of course the washer and dryer. I also invited family and am so glad that I did and that these are all part of the DVC advantages. In terms of the experience being "Disneyesque," I found it to be just as magical as staying in a non-DVC resort--only with enhancements. I actually felt like I was really home. It was fantastic!

I shared many of your sentiments about SSR!

The views were awesome! Even if you don't get a DTD view, you will still have a very desirable view, wherever they put you. I had a courtyard view studio and could see DTD too!

I totally agree with you on the landscaping, the pool size, the quiet pool, the viewing area, everything! LOL

I had a great solo stay and can't wait to return with DH in Sept.

I also agree about the walk to the main pool. I found it no longer than the walk to SAB, albeit at SSR it is completely outside but timing wise it was about the same.

Glad you had such a great time!

If you look at the SSR room layout that Doc posted the dedicated 2 bedrooms rooms with really good DD views are very limited. In my opinion only 2 per floor per building and you need to be on an upper floor even then. The better views go to the one bedrooms, studios and GV.

Great, detailed report! Thanks for being so objective, and for sharing so much information...

I can't wait to go!
