SSR Room Location

We are going to SSR in October as an adult only trip. We are taking the kids again next June. This is our first trip to SSR and we will probably not spend a lot of time in the pools so i am wondering what is the best location for transportation to the parks.

The park busses stop at:
Grandstand
Carousel
Paddock
Congress Park
Springs

If standing on a bus that already reached capacity really annoys you, then you may want an early stop on that list.
The main area for dining is closest to springs, but Grandstand is the next easiest walk to the main dining and has a pool bar with mug refils. Grandstand also has many very nice golf course views.
Paddock also has a QS dining at that feature pool an is reasonably close to Carousel. Carousel is closest to the exit which may be nice if you are driving a car to parks.
The prototypical answer for an adult trip would be congress Park with a DTD view (and shortest walk to DTD east side marketplace)

While Grandstand is a good location room wise It can get a bit dicey for the Bus transportation. A lot of Guests not staying at SSR use the SSR buses to travel to & from DTD. The result is that at certain times of the day it is almost impossible to get on a bus that isn't SRO especially for DTD. The Bus Loading area at Grandstand will be packed with people who aren't even staying there. I believe that the Congress Park Bus Stop also has similar issues since the Bus drivers advise guests that they can get off there & walk to DTD.

I would not pick a location based on transportation. We have stayed in each area and honestly we could not tell any advantage over another.

We just got back from our first stay there. Can't comment on the buses since we had a car. We stayed in Congress Park, but I know next time I will ask for Springs or Paddock. We like the pools and food options being closer. You can walk but for me the walk was a bit too long so we ending up driving to the different sections.

It is a beautiful resort though. I loved the rooms and I loved the layout of the resort. For me it almost made me feel like I was getting 2 vacations for the price of one. I had 1 that included the business of the parks and Disney in the evenings and during the daytime I had the laid back easy going time of just being in the resort and hanging at the pools.

not that i am doubting you but, why would someone take a bus to SSR and then walk to DTD? Did WDW stop the busses from going to DTD? It makes sense if there is a reason for the non-SSR guest to do this if they have a reason to be at SSR (ADRs, pool hopping, site seeing....) but, last time i was there the busses went to DTD.

A lot of people do this because, if they want to get from a park to DTD, they are told to go to one of the closest resorts to DTD from the park and then transfer there. Usually OKW and SSR are the ones people pick, SSR being the first choice as the PP said, they can walk from the Congress Park stop and avoid another bus, or get off and wait for the DTD bus at the first stop, Grandstand.

People that don't know any better do this because it is what the WDW Bus Drivers tell them to do. Personally from SSR I would wait for a DTD bus myself rather than walk since I do enough walking in the parks & elsewhere. But I have heard the Bus drivers tell guest this is what they should do if they don't want to wait for another bus. Those that want to wait for another bus are told to get off at Grandstand & transfer there to a DTD bus by the Bus Drivers. But I would also take a bus from any park to the nearest resort & then get a DTD bus from there rather than take the bus to SSR & then transfer. With as much experience as I've had over the years using WDW transportation I've gotten pretty good at figuring out the best way to get from any one place to another and the Bus Drivers don't always give the best advice. My personal experience at SSR grandstand Bus stop is that it gets extremely crowded with guests following the Bus Driver's DTD access advice.
