We are making our first trip using our DVC membership in June. Can anyone tell me what to expect with regard to room location? We have booked a 2BR - req. main pool area or fireworks view. We can't wait - although I'm not so sure about the drive now that gas is 3.10/gal. - we are experiencing shortages here in PA - I hope it's not that way on our trip down and back. Thanks

Downtown Disney has discontinued fireworks so that won't be an option anymore. You can request Downton Disney view and it is pretty to see out your windows.

That is correct that the fireworks are gone. If you want to be near the main pool request an area in the springs.

As for gas prices, be prepared to pay 3, close to 3 or over 3 for your trip.

Southwest has airfare to Orlando for $59 one way from Philly and Pittsburgh until June 15. I'm not sure if that info is helpful, but wanted to share it with you in case it was.

From recent experience they will only promise smoking and medical issues. They will take your request into account but don't promise it. To get the choice you want you should get there at registration between 10:30 and 11:am. We got there at 4 (check in time) and had a problem. Nancy

Where you stay at SSR can be quite the issue. If you stay in The Paddock, for instance, you have a sense of being really isolated from the pool, Artists Palette, Downtown Disney ... even though it's only a 10 minute walk or so to the center of things, it's like being in the south 40. Not awful, mind you, but of the three completed areas, I think it's the least convenient and least desirable of the lot.

We stayed there last trip ... it sure didn't ruin it, but it made my feet tired(er).
