Ssr room location request

To the springs- which section would you recommend? Long walks to the main area in the heat with 2 small children will be tough. Any input would be great! How are the views at SSR?

The closest rooms are the preferred view rooms. That is what makes them preferred.

If you can’t get a preferred room, ask if you can get a room near the water taxi/motor launch

The Springs can be quite a hike from some areas. Some of the buildings in the Grandstand aren't too far from The Springs. The Paddock buildings near the pool aren't a terrible walk to The Springs; there's a bridge and walkway directly from The Paddock pool to the Carriage House. The Carousel... that's out there. Far reaches of The Grandstand... you may need a GPS.

To save walking, you can board any theme park bus. The last stop will be at The Springs bus stop, which is right across from High Rock Springs pool and The Carriage House. The theme park route runs Grandstand -> Carousel -> Paddock -> Congress Park -> Springs. Total time from the Grandstand to The Springs is about 10 minutes, assuming no scooter load / unload.

The views are generally good. Most rooms have a view of a garden / water area. Some will look out to the quiet pool. Disney did a good job positioning the buildings to keep the parking lots on the "door side" of the rooms, not the balcony or patio side, if that makes sense.

The Springs is preferred, as is Congress Park. Standard is Paddock, Carousel and Grandstand. Two small children would probably like either the Paddock pool and water play area or the Grandstand pool and water play area. Paddock also has a nice counter service at the pool. You walk across the bridge from the Paddock to get to the Springs, but it will be a long walk with two little kids. You'll probably want to drive from any standard villa to get to the main pool and Artist's Palette.

Grandstand which is also the first stop for theme park buses.

The Grandstand building labeled 8501-8836 on the map referenced above is practically next to the Carriage house, where the eateries and main desk and such are located. And the boat to Disney Springs is right behind the Carriage House. Our views have been either parking lot or golf course. And, as noted, the Grandstand bus stop is the first stop at SSR. So you're virtually guaranteed a seat when you go to the parks, since the bus arrives empty, and you're the first dropped off after a long day. We've seen the buses fill up after three stops and have to bypass the last two (I forget what order they're in), so it can be a big advantage.

I have three nights booked in a standard room at SSR in December. I am just going to put in the Paddock as my only request.

One word of caution here. Later in the day, as folks return from the parks, the buses will not arrive empty. My guess is that the buses will come in empty for the first two hours of the day. After that, it's likely at least someone will be on the bus.

Fair point. I was thinking about leaving for the parks in the morning or early in the day when few are returning. But the buses are unlikely to be jammed full of people returning until closer to park closure time, when almost everyone is leaving and few are going to the parks.

We are not planning on going to the parks, just another short resort trip to come down, see the Christmas decor, maybe shop and just take in the Christmas atmosphere. So I wasn't to concerned with having a preferred location with doing just this. We will have our own transportation and might use Uber a couple of times.

I love Paddock, but not bc of proximity. I just love the pool area, and if the kids are small enough the water play area is adorable.
