SSR Question

I have an upcoming conference at the Hilton at Downtown Disney and had a question for those who have stayed at SSR. I currently have a reservation at the Holiday Inn DD, which is right by the Hilton. However, I was considering renting points to stay in a studio at SSR. For those of you who have stayed there, do you think it is possible for me to walk from SSR to the Hilton? The conference starts at 8AM so I don't think the DD busses will be running early enough...or will they? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't really think it would be an absolutely pleasant experience, crossing that busy street (that runs in-front of DTD) but I do see some pedestrians that do it. And would being in the weather that long ruin your "look" for the conference?

I might consider it, because I already own the points, and would request Congress Park (section closest to DTD walkway. And I'm a guy and would not care for my hair/clothes as much.

DTD buses are usually very infrequent before the evening, so I would not count on a pre-8am bus.

Problem is, you could be put in a far Grandstand or Carousel building and have a even longer walk.

I wouldn't want to try to walk that distance in business-- even business casual-- attire, but then I get warm really easily.

Actually, it's quite an easy walk. I regularly walk twice the distance when picking up our rental car at the Doubletree at the far end of Hotel Boulevard. The Hilton is much closer than that.

Request a room the the Congress Park section of SSR. That will put you at the end closest to the Hilton. Then simply walk out of the property, along the sidewalk to the cross walk/lights by the Marketplace and across the street to the Hilton. From the Congress Park section it's about a 10-15 minute walk.

Just remember that room requests aren't guaranteed. They will do their best. If you can't get a room in the Congress Park section ask for anything but the Springs. That will allow you to take any park bus, get off at Congress Park and walk from there.

I agree with the other posters. If your studio is in Congress Park, it is a fairly easy walk to the Hilton on Buena Vista Drive. :cool1:

Thanks guys! I think i will give it a try....weather shouldn't be too bad in November so I shouldn't get too hot. I tend to wear comfie shoes even in business casual attire. I just hate the thought of staying off property :goodvibes

I would do the same! The walk should be lovely in November, plus you can stop by Downtown Disney on your way back for dinner (Earl of Sandwich! Yum!) or shopping.

Have a great trip!

Just wanted to say I did it but I agree with the others that you have to be at Congress Park to pull it off and I do think you have to take in consideration what attire you will be required to wear and how easily do you sweat.

You can absolutely walk there. And in Nov., it should be very pleasant. Enjoy!:goodvibes
