I was looking at the resort comparison charts on the DVC site and noticed that they listed boat and bus transportation at SSR - I thought they only had buses.

Where does the boat transportaion at SSR go?

Thanks

thanks for the info - I'll be staying there for the first time in about 11 days.

The great thing about SSR is that if you enjoy having meals at other WDW resorts, is a very easy boatride or walk to DTD and its bus stops to all the other resorts. SSR is the one and only resort I will stay at when I want to dine all over the place at WDW (we generally don't rent a car). Its great for that purpose and many others, its a wonderful resort! Have a great vacation!

oh that is a great idea for us when we go in April because I think we want to eat at the Yachtsman again ;)

Well it will be very easy! You can walk or boat to DTD, get on the Yachtclub bus, then do the same in reverse order after you eat dinner. When we stayed at BWV without a car, I really missed how easy it was to dine around WDW without having DTD and its busstops right next to our resort!

SSR has very good transportation. I was very impressed in August! Have a wonderful trip!

I believe there is a inter-resort shuttle you can take as well. You might want to call ahead. My DW and I rent a car. The only reason we do this is the DD2. By renting a car, we can put her car seat in. We took the bus one day, and did not feel comfortable with her not in a car seat.

There's no bus transportation to other resorts. However, as well as boat transportation to DTD and OKW, there is another boat to POFQ and POR.

I was going to add about Port Orleans! Soon the boat will also stop at the new THV section.

There is not dedicated shuttle in SSR. But you can use the normal busses to get around. All park busses, start with Grandstand, Carousel, Paddock, Congress Park, with the last stop as Springs (main area stop).
I believe the DTD bus runs: Springs, Grandstand, Carousel, Paddock, then Congress Park. so you can use the DTD bus to get back to any area.

You are incorrect!

There is an internal shuttle at SSR. I have seen and ridden the bus. Having spent at least 30 days there the past three years, I do know the resort.

You can boat over to DHS from the Boardwalk and catch all the resort buses from the DHL bus lot.

Both of you are actually correct.:hippie:

I have seen the internal shuttle at times during my SSR stays but it is not the norm. During my August stay, I confirmed at the front desk that the first scenario was the way to go. I'm guessing that the internal shuttle is only in operation during peak seasons and during peak hours but it isn't a full-time option.

Back to the boat...I had forgotten that it stops at POR and didn't know it also went to OKW (although that should've been a "duh" fact). Thanks for that info!! Maybe I'll stop by there and visit...with the added benefit of spying on the THVs.

I still do not think the boar service is clear enough. When I was there in July, I took the boat from DTD to SSR. At the DTD stop, they had a sign that told you "this color goes to ..." As if each of the 3 resorts (OKW, SSR, and POR) each had their own boats
Or is this another "PEak vs non-peak" difference?

I do really wish I could count on SSR boat service to be as reliable as the EPCOT friendship boats, but it sounds like they keep changing things..

As far as I can remember, the boats go (I could have this wrong):

DTD - SSR - OKW - SSR - DTD

or

DTD - SSR - POFQ - POR - POFQ - SSR - DTD

The boats have a different coloured flag depending upon their destination. I Think they are as follows (I could have this wrong as well):

Red - DTD
Yellow - PO
Green - OKW
