Has DVC increase the selling price of SSR since inception? How often do they increase the price? What was the pre-construction price? How often do they have incentives? I sort of upset of missing the $10 off last month.
When SSR presales began in fall, 2003 the effective price was $79 ($89 with an incentive). The price was raised to $89 in Spring, 2004 and another increase since to $95 -so there has been no price increase in several months.
Incentives have varied over time, but the $10 reduction was the best one available. In the past, DVC has offered Magical Beginnings- which amounted to a $10 credit on purchase for every point from the first Use Year sold back to DVC. Members still had to pay prorated maintenance fees on those points, so the net effect was actually less than $10.
I'd expect another price increase soon- probably sometime over the summer. DVC usually announce these in advance to existing members, so any impending increase will not likely be secret to anyone who keeps up on this forum.
Thanks for the info. Now, I don't feel the need to rush and buy SSR since the next price increase will be well known and published before the increase. This gives me time to look at resell before I buy from Disney.

If you truly want SSR, then maybe a resale is a good option for you as well. We were fortunate to get in for the $10 off/point. I was really glad when I heard the new incentive was only $8 off/point. I know some of the SSR resales are going for as low as $79 to $80/point. I don't know what they are ROFRing (if you will) but with so much to sell, I doubt they'll grab anything going for that rate. With closing and other fees, you'll end up paying around $85 or a little less. We went directly with DVC so we wouldn't have to worry about ROFR, it was much quicker and neater to join, and with the incentive, we got just about the same price as we would have with a resale. Good luck! Don't wait too long! The prices go up and the years of use go down! My only regret is that we didn't buy 10 years ago! I kick myself everyday!
