SSR On WDW Resort Site

They have started putting up SSR on the WDW Resort site. The "Virtual Tour" does not seem to be working yet but I suspect it will be active very shortly. There is other information that might be of interested -- especially to those itching to get "home" for the first time.

Just noticed that the Rates for SSR are the same as for OKW. This seems to indicate that construction costs must play some part in how DVC determines the number of points that are sold at each resort and how they are divided up "per room night".

Can you experts tell me how the community hall works? Is it planned activities, or just come when you want? I was wondering about their babysitting services also. Anyone tried it?

It seems like they are still working on the site. The "virtual tour" link has disappeared (I'm sure they'll get one up soon.)

There is also some basic information about the Spa itself, including a number to call to schedule.

If you click into the Guest Rooms link on the left hand edge, there is a virtual tour link that works for me - pops up a small window.

[EDITED to try to fix link] - There appears to be a bug in the message boards software that is inserting an extra "%20" where the link URL is wrapping. Anyway, either edit that out or cut and paste this:

Interesting to see that the point "value" for a SSR-1BR during value season is $17/point during weeknights and drops to an almost punitive $8.30/pt. on weekends.
Still can't seem to book cash nights online, as the "Book your Vacation" section doesn't give access to SSR in the drop-down menu.

I am not sure why the link takes you to AKL (it does for me now too!) - I copied it from the window for SSR. Anyway, regardless of where the link takes you, if you go to the SSR page, then click on the link in the upper right that says "GUEST ROOMS", there is a virtual tour there.

[EDITED] Use the second link above - it should work. It appears there is a bug in the message board software.

I think the problems are on the Disney end -- sorry if it's not working. It seems they are still working on adding SSR to the WDW site because if you try to reach it now from the site ---- it's not there. It's not listed as one of the Home Away From Home options. Hopefully, it'll be back soon with the full Virtual Tour set-up. For now, I think you can still get it (at least sometimes) with the original link above.

As of this evening, I was able to get the virtual tour "intro" and "features" to work. Both are beautiful. I'm sure the whole thing will be done soon and updated frequently as the "real" buildings are ready to photograph and show off.

I was interested to read about the health and fitness facilities. I had no idea there was going to be an indoor exercise pool, spa bath, sauna and steam room! Yay!!!

Those are all features in the regular spa (used to be the Disney Institute Spa) -- SSR (and all DVC) guests will have to pay to use these facilities. I think we get a 20% discount.

It's so great to see our "new home" finally up and running on the WDW site. It makes it so real. We are so anticipating our "first trip home" in late August!! It is so hard to contain my excitment! I too think the Community Hall sounds like fun - I hadn't seen anything about it in the literature we have. Definatley can't wait to check out the Spa. Thanks for the link.
