SSR on cash questions...

Hey all. Just yesterday we made a reservation for Thanksgiving week at SSR. We couldn't use points as most of the dates weren't available, DVC cash wasn't available for a couple of the days, so we just decided it would be easiest to just go throught central reservations and pay for the whole thing (with AAA it wasn't too bad actually). Anyway, does this mean we will have daily mousekeeping? Above that, my main question is this: when I made the reservation she never asked about room location requests. Should I add that to my reservation, or can I (like other WDW resorts when paying cash) fax down a letter requesting a certain area a few days before we arrive? Having not paid for a room in several years, and never having paid cash for a DVC resort, I didn't know what the current protocol was. Thanks for any help in advance.

Yes. Since you booked through CRO/WDWTC, you will get daily housekeeping.

Call CRO back and ask to have your request noted on the reservation. The DVC resorts do not look at room request faxes - they just get too many.

If a particular request (location) is important to you the most important thing is to get to the resort as early as you can to check in. From all reports, SSR uses the "room ready" method of assigning most rooms. Make your request again at check in and add that you would be willing to wait (if you are) for a room if one isn't ready now that meets your request.

:) Standard small print disclaimer: Requests are not guaranteed. :)

We stayed at SSR over the summer paying cash through CRO. We did receive daily mousekeeping. And I requested Congress Park when I made the initial ressie. As CarolMN stated, we were offered "room ready" when we checked in (at 9:30 AM after being dropped off from our cruise!), but the room was not in CP. Since the request for CP was on our ressie, we were given the choice to take the room that was ready or wait for a room in CP. Since we were planning to go straight to Epcot after checking in and had already checked our bags with bell services we opted to wait for our request. I called from Epcot to get our room number, and our room in CP was ready by noon - we were lucky!

OK. A question about DVC cash. The OP states that DVC cash wasn't available. I thought that you could make cash ressies at the DVC discount rate at any DVC resort at any time. Obviously not true. I looked through the threads, but couldn't find an answer to this: what are the rules for the DVC cash discounts on ressies at DVC resorts? Thanks!

The DVC Member discount on cash reservations is only available at DVC Resorts. It is also on an "if available" basis. It is 25% off rack rate. There are a limited number of rooms available for this. Lastly, the cash discounted room must have the member staying in it. Hope this helps...

Yes, thanks! :) So I guess it's just call and ask.
