SSR Model Tour & BLT Tour Questions

We bought SSR sight unseen and planned a last minute Labor Day weekend trip (lucky enough to get AKV Sav View Studio for 2 nights) . . .

We plan on touring TOTWL at BLT and would like to walk through the models at SSR. Here are my questions:

(1) Will the DVC van pick us up from the Poleynesian (where we're eating breakfast) to take us to BLT? Will the DVC van then drop us back at AKV after the tour? I've read this somewhere...is there a specific number to call to schedule this ahead of time?

(2) We would love to do a split stay at SSR for Christmas and really really want to walk through the models (without doing the tour, since we'll be touring at BLT). I would tell the guide that we just want to walk through. Does anyone know when the models/sales center closes? Trying to plan ADRs at DTD so would like to walk through SSR models before dinner.

When we wanted to see an AKV model last year then guide a the desk there said that we could view it between 2-4 p.m.

The van will pick you up and drop you off at resorts, parks, DTD. I would call your guide to make the arrangements - that's what we did.

I didn't know even they were doing tours at BLT. When we toured the models at the SSR sales center in 2009, they had AKV and BLT as the models. Unless something has changed, the sales center didn't have an SSR model any longer, but if you ask your guide, they can probably take you to the models that are in a different building if they are still in existance (we haven't done that since 2008, so I'm not sure on that one).

I'm not positive but when we did the presentation at BLT in Apr I believe you had to get yourselves over there. The presentation was at 1PM so it was certainly easy to do. You can of course ask about the van. I never saw the van out front and there were lots of members at the presentation.

I didn't realize the OP was talking about the member presentation at BLT - I thought she just meant going over to tour a model. I think you are right - there was no transportation to the presentation from what I heard others say. Easy enough to get there from the Poly though - just take the monorail. Back to AKV you can just take the bus from the Magic Kingdom.

(Also I wasn't thinking about the fact that the OP is ALREADY a member, not a prospective customer! There's probably NO van service for current members!)

Ooooh that is good to know. For some reason when I was googling this info I saw on the *other* boards that if you sign up at a kiosk for a BLT tour a DVC van will pick you up...I've never seen any info before on this so I thought I'd ask the DIS'ers Thanks for all your responses! I will call before arrival and will post if they do pick up current members for the tour

That's great to know that the Poly is accessible via monorail (I've never stayed at a monorail resort).
