SSR free upgrades??

I saw that somebody mentioned a free upgrade at SSR...Is this something that is a good possibility and how does it happen? Would it be offered, or would we ask at check-in if there are any upgrades available? Thanks!

Upgrades at all DVC resorts are few and far between. If you get one it is usually due to damage to the original room reserved or circumstances beyond their control.

You may be confusing the "upgrade" with the current incentives for purchasing @ SSR?

They definitely said they got an upgrade from a studio to a one-bedroom on check-in...like you said, it must have been a fluke thing.

IIRC, the person who was upgraded was staying on cash, not points. That will happen on occasion. Since I have been at the DIS, I have never heard of anyone at any DVC resort being upgraded when staying on points.

So, I wouldn't hold my breath either way, but definitely not if you're staying on points.

Upgrading someone paying cash from a studio to a one bedroom is just an evil trick. No way you could have that and not buy DVC.

Very funny, and possibly very true. Get them into a one bedroom and they may never go back to a hotel room or studio.
