Anyone been to high rock spring pool at SSR. Is it anything like stormalong bay?? I'm mainly interested in knowing how the big slide and whirlpools are.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

i've only been to SSR and the slide was very tamed and short compared to what i saw at BCV. while i was there (oct 2004), the SSR pool was rather quiet and less crowded compared to Stormalong Bay. then again, Stormalong Bay is a huge pool area and very popular with guests.

The pool at SSR is rather ordinary compared to SAB. I don't think anything compares to SAB. SSR is themed, has a slide through the rocks (kind of like WL), but the rest of the pool and hot tub are nothing out of the ordinary.

SAB (to the best of my knowledge) is the only resort pool with multiple slides. The main slide is very long. They also have two much tamer short slides that my four and five year old loved.

Also, a lot of people have mentioned that the SSR pool seems small for the number of eventual guests.

I don't know what the "tamer" slides look like at SAB, but SSR does have two slides. In addition to the 200' rockwork slide, there is a smaller one around 10-12' long that is very popular with the kiddies.

Cool - that's good to know. We might just need to pool hop over there when we take my nephew in a few years - the BW slide is too scary for a toddler and SAB isn't hoppable. (At least the VWL slide is pretty tame).

I wish all the resort pools were zero entry with big slides for the big kids and kiddie slides for the little ones! It makes for a much more flexible pool.

I haven't been to SAB but I love SSR. My DH and I got off the bus right there after a long Magic Kingdom day. I took my shoes off and walked in the shallow part of the pool. I loved the zero entry for that. I also enjoyed the water spiters at the edge of the pool and the waterfall for overall relaxing. They were playing jazz music out there and what with that and the waterfall and the long day, my poor DH fell asleep in no time! LOL But he woke up in 30 and off we went on to DTD for dinner.

Note: I do prefer quiet though and this pool was VERY quiet when we were there. If you need more exitment, maybe SAB is for you.

have fun! :teeth:

I have used both slides, and I have to say, I believe the slide at SSR is faster than the one at BWV. The one at BWV may look longer and faster because you can see it--it is not hidden in the rocks, but the one at SSR definitely takes you for a ride. I found the one at BWV to be very tame--long and nice, but easier for a smaller child to handle. The one at SSR nearly took my suit off, bruised my skin, and threw me into the water so fast that I got water up my nose--every time I did it. The one at BWV looks higher, etc., but I think it's more of a kiddie ride.

sorry, for some reason I thought this was a BWV comparison, so if you need that information....

otherwise, as others have said there is no comparison between SSR and BCV pools or slides, I don't believe. BCV has something for everyone and then some. That said, SSR is a beautiful pool, a fast slide for those who like it, 2 hot tubs at the main pool, and zero entry area. You can also keep an eye on your family a lot more easily than at BCV, where, frankly, the pool is so massive that you could get lost.
