SSR Advice please

I think the bus situation depends on when you will be traveling. We just got back from SSR and the buses were empty. We were in the Springs section and never had to stand on the bus. One day, a man and woman both had a scooter (with a big canopy on each) They had to split up and half the group stayed back with the grandmother to ride on the next bus.

While this is out of my experience, I know there are handicapped access rooms available at SSR and I would think they will be conveniently located. Perhaps someone here knows more about them. It would certainly be worth a call to the front desk of SSR for more info. Have a great time!:thumbsup2
The handicapped rooms are scattered all over the resort, so not all of them are centrally located. On our last trip we talked with someone who was staying in a handicapped accessible room in the Paddock, which is about as far as possible from the Main pool and restaurants.
If someone needs a handicapped accessible room with a roll in shower, I'd suggest calling Special Reservations (you can find the phone number on the disABILITIES FAQs thread, near the top of the disABILITIES Board).

Here is a link to a larger map. We have stayed in Congress Park, which I would recommend and in the Springs, which I would not recommend.
The side of Congress Park closest to the check in area ( 2101-2836) are not that far from the Main pool and are close to a quite pool. There are good paths/sidewalks the whole way to get from those buildings to the main pool.
We did not have any problems getting on the bus at Congress Park, but there were times at the Springs when the bus was very full and at least once when we could not get on.
We've never stayed at The Grandstand, but it looks like it would be a great area, very close to everything and also the first bus stop. The only problem with the first bus stop is that you could possibly end up with a 'full bus' situation if you are leaving the resort at a time when a lot of other guests are returning to the resort.

I think the Gandstands are a good choice for you! I stayed in them last time and it is now my favorite section. First on the bus in the morning, close to a great themed pool, and there is a very nice walkway over to the main building that is very convenient.

Have a great time, enjoy SSR!

I wanted to say thanks for the input. We got back from SSR about 3 weeks ago ::yes::

We stayed in grandstand. Grandstand is NOT always the first bus stop. In our experience while there buses went different directions. It was wild. Regardless we had no bus issues. Grandstand was nice. I don't love SSR. I think it will be our last choice for all future trips. I am sure at some point we will stay there again, but it was not our favorite.
