SSMC2006 cruise friends

So guess what John and I did? We joined a motorcycle club. No we're not Hell's Angels or anything. It's a very family oriented riding group focused on charity events, riding and eating! Right now I'm a passenager on John's bike but we're looking into getting me my own :moped:

Tomorrow we're doing a ride to a school to meet the kids there. In Sept we are doing a charity ride to raise money to buy them accessible playground equipment. The school only has regular playground equipment and there's about 25 kids that need accessible equipment so at this time they can't go outside to play due to insurance reasons. Tomorrow we're taking pins and tee shirts to the kids and letting them sit on the bikes and taking their pictures. Should be a fun day!

Gail I think that is great!!!
Sounds like you guys are going to having all kinds of great fun and doing some wonderfull things. I think it is wonderfull about your charity ride in September. I hope you end up raising a ton of money so the kids can enjoy recess!

Stacy, good luck to Nick with the OA!!

Thanks!
Nick & Jeff just finised getting his backpack all set. So tomorrow after work we will be picking him up from my parents house and taking him out for dinner then dropping him off at camp.
Ahhhh a child free weekend!!!
To bad we plan on doing more painting and moving the old tv down to the basement and getting all of the gaming systems hooked up to it.
I did tell Jeff he had to take me out to dinner at this one place we still haven't eaten at.:rotfl:

Glad to hear everyone is getting through the storms well! We're waiting to see when the Mississippi crests and if my parents have a boat after it's all said and done (its down at the marina tied up but we've not hit 25 feet in a long long time (if ever).

We're still working on finishing up the baby's bathroom - Matt is such a perfectionist - and hope to post a photo soon of what it looks like. Next week we have another sonogram to see if the baby has turned - I have a feeling it has as the kicks/jabs are in different locations. We've been to see the chiropractor and had some specialized chinese medicine treatments that are very well known to work in this situation so we're doing all we can in hopes to deliver the way we want to.

Gail - sounds like an amazing group to join!

Tina - sounds like a fun weekend and I can't wait to hear how you like the Lodge!

Stacy - ooh child free :D

Julie, feeling the baby kick differently is a good sign. I hope he/she has turned. Your due date is coming quickly now but I have some bad news for you --- the baby isn't going to be ready for that bathroom for quite a while. ;)

Stacy, I hope Nick is having a good weekend. Cameron's off to Boy Scout camp the week after this. With the tragedy in Iowa, I'm going to be wishing the week to go by even faster.

Gail, cool deal for you and John! :moped: Wasn't it not that long ago that you didn't ride on the bike with him and now your looking into getting one of your own. Cool!!!

Tina, I bet you will have a fantastic time at Great Wolf Lodge. Just watch out for the clock in the lobby -- it's rather tricky with 4 hands instead of 2. :rotfl2:

WOW time is flying! HAPPY FATHERS DAY to all the dads out there. (the moms can realy since not too many dads are still posting here)
I am leaving on Friday for Canada and the annual fishing trip with my dad. and then when I get beck its just over two weeks till we ALL go to Mickeys house. I am gonna cover some territory the 30 days!

Happy Monday Morning!!

Well Nick made it thru the Ordeal! A few bug bites and scratches later but no worse for wear. We picked him up yesterday morning and he was wearing a big grin and his new OA sash.

Nick was surprised hen he got home since we painted the downstairs and moved the old 32 inch flat screen TV and entertainment center down there so now is a whole little gaming and movie area. Jeff hooked up the Wii & the Xbox 360 and DVD player so Nick will have all the electronics! He was very surprised.

Julie - Glad to hear that the little jabs and kicks are in a different location. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything works out.

Steve - Sounds like you have a busy few weeks ahead. I hope you and your Dad have a wonderful time fishing and that one of you catches the "Big One"!

Stacy that is fabulous that Nick made it through!!!

Cindy - :faint: it won't - ha ha ha. Yes, but the creepy "cherub baby" wallpaper had to go or mommy wouldn't have been able to use it either.

Steve - have a fabulous group of trips!

Ok so the day has hardly started (yep it's just after 4 here but don't tell preggo and the baby as well we can't sleep) and already it's been quite exciting. I let Chip out to go use the facilities and he started growling... thought he found a frog... um no... POSSUM :scared1: ... not moving (totally alive and creepy looking), just staring at our dog who was getting closer. I'm screaming at the dog, and finally turned around, yelled into the house "MATT - possum and dog stand off I can't get the dog" and went back out. Yes, at 3:30 in the morning there we are hoping said Possum doesn't bite our dog (who thankfully just had his rabies shot) cause the dog is defending the yard. Luckily Chip had to potty and then heard me ask him if he wanted a treat so he came in with us. If that dang thing isn't out of our yard before the dog has to go again I'm going to have to call animal control. Wish it had been an armadillo.. I haven't seen one alive before ;)

Oh Julie! A restless night for you in more ways than one! We've have possums in our yard on more than one occasion. The teeth on those things could make a vampire look tame!:scared1: Hope you don't have to contend with any more "critters" for a while.

I've been thinking about you often as the big day is getting closer. Ken and I wish you and Matt a happy and healthy baby. I have to admit that when I saw the time of your post, my first thought was "She's headed to the hospital!"::yes::

Thanks Mary!!! It's still early for the baby - even the OB reminded us today that if the baby came now we would not be considered full term ... wow!

Fabulous news today - the baby is no longer BREECH - woo hoo!

That is great news!!!! I am so excited for you guys.

scary about the possum. I took our new doggie out one night around 3 am and he stood so still... I could not see a darn thing..one I was finally able to adjust to the lack of light out I saw 2 deer 4 feet from us.... we slowly backed up and and took a short walk to the corner - we have bunnies and groundhogs in our yard all the time. My biggest fear is the dreaded SKUNK......

Julie: Do you have a doula as well? After spending all those visits in an Ob's office (*knocking on wood that I neve go through that much bleeding again)
I am somewhat interested in what happens.
( Although personally I am not ready for children at this time )

Here's the newest addition to our family. Probably not as cute as the addition to Julie and Matt's family will be, but I'm still proud ;)

Tomorrow we are going on a ride to Lexington. It will probably take about 3 1/2 hours to get there with stops and then the group is having a picnic at the Marina. This will be the longest ride John & I have been on so far. I will still be a passenager on John's bike for this ride since I've only rode my bike 3 times.

And no, I don't ride wearing shorts and flip flops!

Gail - that is a fabulous new addition to the family! I bet it sleeps better than our new addition will :rotfl:

Gail - you're a much braver person than I am - I am scared to death of those things!

Had a great time with Christopher and his momma on our short trip to WDW - he was really a talker this time and he just loved it - I kept hearing - "Grammie - it's a beautiful day" and I would tell him that was because we were at grammie's happy place and then he would laugh. I'll try and post a few pics when I have some time.

It's officially summer - hope the weather treats everyone nicely - I'm liking warmer temps!

This was our first "official" ride with the group. It started out with the sun shining and within 20 minutes it was raining. We decided to brave it since it looked like clear skies to the West. Coming home was interesting. About 1/2 way home it started to rain, we started to look for a place to take cover and then the hail started. Rain and hail are painful while riding a bike. We found one of those do it yourself car washes and pulled the bikes into the wash bays. We had 18 bikes and 22 people. It hailed for a good 15 minutes and the winds and rain were horrible. Once it stopped we decided to continue on. About 15 minutes from home it started to rain again, by the time we got home our jackets and pants were soaked. I'm not sure if they will ever dry or if we'll ever get warm again.

Other than that we had a great time :cool1:

I am up in Canada fishing this week. They put in WiFi so I can stay in touch sort of. If the fish is bitin then I'm not typin! But I will updat as I go along. Fishing may not be as good as last year. Water level in up and weeds havent grown up to their normal level (fish hide in them that where you go to catch them near the weeds) I caught 5 northern today biggest was only 26 inches so not a bad start just not our normal WOW

Chat at you all later.
