Boards are crawling. Is it because we are on the west coast? Board speed starts to hit interstate crawl around 11:00 am, est.

I was on yesterday or the day before and the site was down and a message came up about the servers and to come back in an hour. I popped back about half an hour later and it up and running again, then today it's back so really slow.

I am on a server that is housed in the UK and it is screaming so I doubt it.

It is slow for me as well but another issue I have is that I have to click the back button twice in order to get back to the main board. :

I've had the same problem with the back button for at least the past couple of weeks, but only on Disboards, not any other site. I always have to click back twice to make it work here.

Everything pops up quickly for me. You all aren't using Internet Explorer are you? Download Mozilla Firefox (Best) or Google Chrome (next best) instead. They function the same as IE, but just run so much more smoothly. Far less errors and time out and such. I work with issues like this for a living, and it's surprising how much a different browser can help.

I'm on Chrome and I have intermittent problems with speed on this site... and ONLY this site. It's definitely Disboards that has been having problems, but it isn't consistent. i'll have periods where it's reasonably fast (like right now) and other times where it's achingly slow.

me too--Google Chrome. Today at 9:50 I clicked on the "quote" button, and the page didn't appear till 9:53.

It is only on Disboards that this happens to me. I go to many other websites--including picture heavy sites like Pinterest, and have not problems at all. There is something going on here. I will go over to the technical board here and just let the powers that be know, but I suspect they already know.

There was plans to move the site to some new servers a month or two ago, but some technical issues arose. In the mean time, the Sysop's are working on doing what they can until something better can be arranged. Sorry for the lack of details, but I'm just not savvy enough to understand what's going on.

BTW, you might want to ask this question on the Tech Support section of the DIS.

The forum does have some issues being slow but the biggest problem for me is that the page seems to crash sometimes and it will just be a blank screen. The weird part is that I never have loading problems when browsing from my phone.

I turn off display of signatures and images, which helps a ton. Go to User CP -> Edit Options -> Thread Display Options, and uncheck all three Visible Post Elements - Signatures, Avatars, and Images. Images will then show up as a link which you can click on to view, and Signatures/Avatars will not show up. (You can always log out if you want to see a thread in the default mode.)

i'm using a brand new Macbook Pro with super high speed internet and it's so slow it's keeping me from posting on the site anymore. I mean, I don't have time to sit and wait for this dial up speed site. And I know it's not my computer because this is the ONLY site that does it, any other large site loads in a blink. They really need to do something. Go delete some junk posts that are years old and not even needed anymore. That might help.

Yeah I do too. I have the highest speed internet (need it for work) and it still takes about 4 to 5 minutes to load this forum.

Wow... Nice....... That must be fast... and expensive! Our OC3 costs us $15,000/month.... You must be on a OC768... what is that about $1-2million/month?

Today is the first day that I've actually been getting notifications that say "server is busy try again later" or something to that affect rather than just slow loading. Do the MODS have any idea what's been going on? It hasn't always been this way. It's really just deteriorated rapidly in the last couple of weeks.
