Spring "What are you reading?" Book Thread

Another favorite series of mine is the Jane Auel books. Big, thick books that will take you to the neanderthal time. I wish I knew if she is ever going to publish another book.

I just looked it up and her 6th book should be out in 2011.

I just read "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime" and "Water for Elephants". Both very excellent.

I have been on a Nora Roberts trilogy kick lately-
The Sign of Seven Trilogy right now- It is OK - now her best

But I love all of her books. Do you read her In Death books written as JDRobb?

for fast fun reads, I have enjoyed theses series:

Morganville Vampires, bk 1 is called "Glass Houses"
by Rachel Caine
so far there 7 of them, bk 8 is being released at the end of the month

House of Night Series, bk 1 is "Marked"
by PC Cast
6 of them, I think, next one being released at the end of the month

Both of those series are in the Teen books , but then again so is Twilight which I enjoyed. Both also are vampire themed books, but each has their own twist on them

Another fast, fun read I have found is a series about a woman whose just discovered she has some "witch" in her. Its the "Bewitching Mysteries" series by Madelyn Alt. First bk is "Trouble with Magic". Very light on the mystery and witch stuff, very enjoyable read.

Love Nora Roberts, esp her trilogies!

Just started The Red Tent by Anita Diamant. Good so far--only 50 pages into it.

Just finished the Twilight series--OK books, was expecting a lot more based on the hype.
Also just read Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane--did not know it was a movie before I read it. I enjoyed the book a lot.

The Lake House by James Patterson
Matters of the Heart by Danielle Steel
on my nightstand to read next. I have never read anything by James Patterson, so we will see how that goes.

If you liked the House of Night series, you might like PC Cast's other series. 1st book is Divine by Mistake (Divine by choice and Divine by Blood are the next two) I just finished the first two and liked them better than the House of Night series.

I'm reading Richard Yate's Revolutionary Road. I didn't realize that it was recently a movie...I just picked it up at the Goodwill because it looked interesting and was only $.45. I'm only a few chapters in to it and I'm liking it so far, but I haven't a clue of what's to come. I'm supposing that there must be some sort of twist or action in order to make it big screen worthy. Hmmm...

Hoping to give this thread a little bump...

I finished Revolutionary Road and there was finally a big chunk of action, but not until the last 50 pages. My friend said that that event was made into a much bigger deal in the movie...definitely not held back until the end like in the book.

I just started A Short History of a Small Place by T.R. Pearson last night. I think it's going to be tough because the print is very small.

I'm still reading Lord of Chaos by Robert Jordan and enjoying it very much. It's 986 pages long in paperback so it's taking awhile.

I just finished The Help and Saving CeeCee Honeycutt. They were both great books IMO. I just started the Wednesday Letters. I have The Same Kind of Different As Me in the wings though. I heard it is a life changing book. thanks for all of the great new reading ideas!

I've read so many of the books mentioned in this thread. Love to see what other readers are reading!

During the school year, I tend to stick with lighter material and with adolescent-type lit. since I like to keep up with what my students are reading.

I'm currently reading Tempted, book six of the House of Night series, since my students recommended them. If you like this type of book, you should try the Immortal Instruments series (City of Bones, City of Ashes, and City of Glass). I can't remember the author.

I'm also re-reading the second book of Nora Roberts Key trilogy.

I just finished Silver Bourne by Patricia Briggs, this was the 5th and just as great as the others. If you like the Sookie Stackhouse series you should give them a try.

Totally agree I've read the whole series as well as the Alpha and Omega series. Love her books.

I'm a prolific reader - a book or two a day usually but it's mostly paranormal romance but I do branch out and read other romance type stuff all light reads for the most part.

So what I've read this week:

and I'm also reading Pleasure of a Dark Prince by Kresley Cole when the battery on my e-reader is charging. As soon as the newest JR Ward book comes out I'll be reading that.

I love this book! It was a great read for our bookclub and then we got together to watch the movie. Post when you are done and let us know what you think of it.

Last weekend I finished Kingdom Keepers - I'll probably have goosebumps next time we ride Pirates or Small World!

And right before hopping on the DIS I finished The Lovely Bones, after a friend (who doesn't read much) suggested it. She's actually read it twice, she liked it that much. Very haunting book.

Thank you to everyone for taking the time to share the books they're enjoying... I went and reserved a bunch of books from the library based on suggestions from this thread. Some had long waiting lists, but a bunch came in this past week. And I just got an email that a couple more are waiting for me! Better get reading as we have book club coming up soon. Have a long car ride tomorrow - maybe I can convince DH to drive so I can read!

I recently read Mirror Mirror(Pretty good,I like Gregory Maguire though) and LOVED The Art of Racing in the Rain! Story told by the the family dog,and I love anything that involves dogs!!
