I've recently gotten into the "whole foods movement" (for lack of a better term) as well, and it's really interesting to read more about the foods (and "foods") we eat and how they affect our health, the environment, etc. I just finished Michael Pollan's In Defense of Food - you should check that one out as well - and have encouraged my partner to read it too. This is our Spring of "renewal" for our family's eating habits. I just finished reading The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan. Which was amazing! It actually led me to do a little research, and we have an all-natural grass-only farm/market within 5 minutes of our house! Local veggies and naturally fed meats!
I'm now reading Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser.
I read Fast Food Nation a couple years ago; the movie is interesting as well, just be forewarned that there are some gross images of slaughterhouses & such. Another movie I saw recently that was great is called "Fresh." It's an indie film, but I think it's available to watch on Amazon's OnDemand thingy. Again, gross slaughterhouse images, but it has made me never want to eat regular supermarket meat again.
Sorry for the OT about movies, but I think for this topic a film is sometimes more powerful than a book b/c you can actually see what goes on at these processing plants.
