Spring has sprung

LOL, actually I find this thread offensive. Of all the things to complain about. These boards have some flaws, but the very last place you will find them is in the posts of the warm people here who extend comfort, support, hugs, prayers and pixie dust to those in need.

It is never a question of if will someone out there will extend a warm hug here, it's always an enormous outpouring, IMO.

I just cannot imagine finding any way (and I do find it offensive) to fault the people here who have contributed to any thread in support of someone who is dealing with loss.

JMHO

MTE....I also find this thread offensive because it is attacking the kind people of the DIS. I can not imagine why anyone would feel compelled to get their panties in a wad over......nothing. :confused3

I'd like to know what has upset you so.

I'm not postive but i think the miscarriage thread has her upset. (the fact that people are posting with their kids in their siggys)

I understand your feelings about the siggys. As for the reality part i don't think it would happen for too many reasons. If someone is bothered by this they can choose to turn off signatures for awhile.

As for me if a signature bothers me I put that person on ignore. Some are just so huge they mess up my scream and occasionally the glitter ones are just too much.

I know I don't have kids, but that is NOT the point. My sister, God bless her. Has seen tons of reproductive endrocronologists over the years. She had a total of 7, YES 7 miscarriages. She is a mod with administrative authority on the Taking Charge of Your Fertility boards and sees posts of children and sonograms all the time. Does that ever hurt or offend her? NO. She has gone to the boards many times not just to moderate, but to recieve sympathy for the loss that she has gone through so many times. Yes, many of those women have their happy smiling babies in their siggys but I have never once seen my sis offended by it. She loves children and doesn't hold anyones happiness or good fortune against them. So, why would you expect anyone else to be offended by it? :confused3

Wow...

just wow.

I could not even begin to express how off-base I think the above is.

I agree with this.

The signature is not part of the message. It is an identifier. And if anyone is offended by the existance of others--than that is a personal problem that noone can begin to assist with.

It is not flaunting considering the tickers, the picks--are done by a good majority of this board and it is a Disney Vacation board after all.

You do realize you are telling people that their existance is offensive to you. Expecting someone to shelter their reality---

I just read a thread recently--someone wanted to know what to say and do for their friend who just lost their baby. And the very key thing I remember (yet did not realize) was the number of people who are more upset and saddened by those who walk on eggshells for fear of offending. By hiding siggies, by pretending that your life is nonexistent---you are walking on eggshells. It is not healthy for the grieving-and it is not healthy for you.

Context is important--and so long as the post itself is compassionate---that is adequate etiquette.

I think it is important for the OP to note that the people posting here are the very people he/she is worried about offending. And since they aren't offended, the OP should maybe relax and realize that while well-intentioned - his worries are unfounded.

Absolute last thing.

Not "beating anyone into submission". Just a PSA to remember what is in your signature before you post.

I'm letting it go and I hope you all will too.

Have a good day.

LOL...spring has sprung.

I took my siggie out for this post, just in case...

(OP, I am just joking around, trying to lighten it up a bit...) :teeth:

A PSA is given with facts to stand on. You were just posting your opinion and now have your panties in a wad because so few posters agreed with you. Instead of being so mad, perhaps you should try seeing the other side. Not saying you have to agree with those that have a differing opinion, but if 95% of the people reply that they don't agree, don't you think it's time to re-think your position?

Holy crap! Look at my siggie quote. How many people have I offended when I've poured out my sympathies to them, and then my siggie goes and talks about death.

LOL, not to mention that dancing banana...um, hello? Can you say food allergies? You are so insensitive! ;)

Maybe he does, he is purebred after all. Can you say the same??

I do want to say this....the OP answered my question in a PM and even though I don't agree with a good deal she's said concerning the use of some sigs in posts, she does have a great deal of empathy for others. I find that to be an admirable trait! :teeth:
