Yeah? Well why does Petey get to wear a sweater? There are other ways to express his individuality other than wearing fashionable clothing. What a slap in the face to those doggies who can't afford to do the same. I say we start a campaign for mandatory uniform - fur only - on dogs.

I know some of you are in the middle of hijacking, but I have to say this! I've had 6 miscarriages since joining the Dis. I would never be offended by anyone posting their condoloences for me with their ultrasounds/babies/kids in their signatures. This is a family board and if you are having a tough time dealing with those issues, you shouldn't be posting here until you are better. I know, I've been there, could write a book about it! I will not take my baby out of my signature, it took years of fertility tests, miscarriages, surgeries and ultimatley adoption (with one failed adoption, thank you very much) to get him here. You don't know what others have gone through to have their kids, don't assume it was a cakewalk. Ok, I'm done! Go back to hijacking!

I also have to add my 2 cents:

People do not have pictures of pets and babies in their siggies to "flaunt" them to hurt people!!! I found that statement really irritating!

And I agree with everyone else. Prayers, Pixie Dust, and good thoughts are always appreciated; my siggie is never something I think about when I read of someone's tragedy, and I'm many others are the same.

I've been wanting to tryto have a baby for well over a year now, and can't, due to meds, and I'm super tuned in to babies and pregnant people (especially in RL)- butI can't ask them all to hide from me. And it wouldn't do me any good, nor would it get me pregnant.

I understand the OP's empathy and certainly it is admirable, but people aren't trying to be hurtful, and shouldn't be afraid to express themselves and their heartfelt condolences.

Again, there is a way to turn off signatures so that you cannot view the pictures in anyone's signature. If I were so distraught that even seeing pictures of people's pets upset me I would do that instead of expecting people to turn off their own signatures before responding to a sympathy thread of mine.

Not to mention if I looked at another thread chances are I'm going to see the pictures that allegedly offended me so really what's the point of even being here when that upset?

There is nothing "fashionable" about Petey's clothing Just ask Dh he'll tell you so

I have several thoughts.

First of all, I'm also someone who recognizes many people from their signature photos, tickers, etc and I'm betting that people do with mine. That's why I try to keep the same one up.

I didn't know that it's possible to remove a signature photo from one post.

I have had to put 2 cats to sleep and have lost one from old age. I currently have an old dog, a 4yo dog, 2 6yo cats, and 2 1yo cats, so I am well aware of how attached people get to their pets. I was heart-broken when we lost our cats. They were a part of our family and I still miss them years later.

I have had 4 miscarriages. My first pregnancy ended in a m/c, then I had 3 babies, then 3 m/c and then my last baby. It was a very painful time in my life and I feel for anyone who has gone through it or who is going through it and I relive it when I read about it. I doesn't mean that I should discuss my family or take off a picture of them, if I had one in my signature and I hope that they wouldn't expect it. Hopefully they'd rather have my support than not to have me post at all. But if there's a way to not post the picture for that one post I will look into that.

I'm not sure that I understand the post and run tactic of the OP. You want to state your piece and then not have anyone disagree with you? What's that all about? You are entitled to your viewpoint, of course, but so are others.

You should see my Maine Coon Baxter! He's pure fluffy evil with a plan to take over the kingdom called his backyard. He has his mind set on setting up a brothel where he can have is way with all the other female kitties on the block. I'm telling you what, those gals are sooooooo easy thank God Baxter doesn't have his family jewels anymore

I was thinking of posting his pic, but then I got concerned about all those with allergies to pet dander. Hmmmmmm what should I replace mine with so that it is not offensive???
