Ok, let me help you, though, consider the length of the contract. SSR expires in 2054. VDH expires in 2074. That's an extra 20 years of use. So, let's look at 200 points. I'll use your numbers above for VDH since I haven't done that calculation myself, but I'll assume $41,500 is the cost with no magical beginnings.

SSR
$170/28 years left on contract + $9.19 dues = $15.26 per point per year

VDH
$207.50/48 years left on contract + $10.54 dues = $14.86 per point per year

Now, if you took that $7,500 you save on your SSR points and invested it in the S&P 500 for the next 48 years, sure, consider the time value of money. But, you'd probably just take that $7,500 and spend it on more Disney, so I'm not sure I'd let that affect your calculations quite as much.

And, I know you don't book a whole lot in advance of 7 months, but it does really matter at VDH. And, VDH probably reliably rents for more per point and more quickly than SSR.

I'm not saying SSR doesn't make the most sense. But, I do think there are some trade offs to consider here.

No I mean in 5 years you're going to be upset you don't get to use those points at DLH as often as you planned to, wishing you had just stuck with DLH to begin with. I mean I've tried to get into DLH a few times since it opened and all I've ever been able to get is a few handicapped accessible rooms, nothing consistent. But it's your money and you're and adult, do what you want to do.

VDH for sure as that is an active property so they make more on those.

VDH AT 150 POINTS $31,300
SSR AT 150 POINTS $27,000
VDH AT 200 POINTS $41,500
SSR AT 200 POINTS $34,000
Savings of $4,300 for 150 points of SSR vs VDH
Savings of $7,400 for 200 points of SSR vs VDH
250 points of SSR is $42,500 vs 200 points of VDH is $41,400. Can get 50 more direct points SSR for $1100 more

But if you look at it like this, then WOW!!! :

Look at the resorts…. SSR is a no go for me… You could buy a week in Vistana on Redweek for $800….

VDH would still be a little more if you were going to stay there but still the better call imo over SSR.

Thank you @ClaraOswald - my new quote didn't include the Visa discount. So I called my guide and the new incentives end up being better now!!!
For my Poly contract there is the basic incentive plus $500 D23, $1000 Anniversary discount, and $1000 Visa discount. It ended up saving me about $600 over the prior incentives. The guide is rewriting the contract now.
