Spring Direct Incentives 2/9-4/27

You guys need to chill 🤣

Give it at least a week to think about it. These incentives are not that great to be crazy about them.
Exactly.

Will they ever have decent prices again? I'm glad I got my RIV at $158 when I did. I think that was the last good deal they've had on any newish resorts. That and then the OKW firesale they had were the last 2 big standouts IMO

It's a lot harder for me (and I would assume other direct owners) to want to add on direct at $200+ after incentives when I already have 300 direct points and am eligible for direct benefits already.

Random thought for people who may know, do they let you "aggregate" savings, meaning can you buy 150 at one resort, 150 at another, but get the 300 a point savings price per point? I remember an earlier post that someone was able to do that (or at least try to do that). Forget where they wound up.

It depends, if you look at it like this, they are not that great:
VDH AT 150 POINTS $31,300
SSR AT 150 POINTS $27,000
VDH AT 200 POINTS $41,500
SSR AT 200 POINTS $34,000
Savings of $4,300 for 150 points of SSR vs VDH
Savings of $7,400 for 200 points of SSR vs VDH
250 points of SSR is $42,500 vs 200 points of VDH is $41,400. Can get 50 more direct points SSR for $1100 more

But if you look at it like this, then WOW!!! :woohoo::
VDH AT 150 POINTS $31,300!!!!!!!!!

Yeah. I got that Riviera one and I’m kinda glad they haven’t done another one because I don’t want more points 🤣

These are all for "New Members"

I wonder if the discounts will be for lower amounts for existing members

"
Already a Disney Vacation Club Member?

Ask about exclusive offers available to current Members."

Ah...thanks. I missed that part about those being the new members pricing. I guess I just had tunnel vision.

I have no idea it am wondering this too. My closing isnt until March and I was told i could straddle, but can I completely change resorts and do Magical beginnings when I refused magical beginnings on vdh and already spent some points (but not enough to go over MB at all)

My guide not being available is driving me crazy. Already emailed her twice but I have a feeling im going to have to wait until tomorrow.

With that being said if its a no that I cant switch, im going to question if thats true. I wonder if it would be more enticing to the guide to sell 150 vdh points or 200 to 250 ssr points
If you used your points from the new contract, you will likely need to cancel that reservation. If you already used points from that contract (as in completed a stay using those points), I dont think they can reverse that.

Looks great to me either way 🤣

Ok, let me help you, though, consider the length of the contract. SSR expires in 2054. VDH expires in 2074. That's an extra 20 years of use. So, let's look at 200 points. I'll use your numbers above for VDH since I haven't done that calculation myself, but I'll assume $41,500 is the cost with no magical beginnings.

SSR
$170/28 years left on contract + $9.19 dues = $15.26 per point per year

VDH
$207.50/48 years left on contract + $10.54 dues = $14.86 per point per year

Now, if you took that $7,500 you save on your SSR points and invested it in the S&P 500 for the next 48 years, sure, consider the time value of money. But, you'd probably just take that $7,500 and spend it on more Disney, so I'm not sure I'd let that affect your calculations quite as much.

And, I know you don't book a whole lot in advance of 7 months, but it does really matter at VDH. And, VDH probably reliably rents for more per point and more quickly than SSR.

I'm not saying SSR doesn't make the most sense. But, I do think there are some trade offs to consider here.

If you used your points from the new contract, you will likely need to cancel that reservation. If you already used points from that contract (as in completed a stay using those points), I dont think they can reverse that.
But would it make me ineligible to switch resorts 😒

I thinking of adding on because taking the family, 6 of us in Nov. I have an April UY. If I buy in March do I get all of 2025 UY points? Just wondering if anyone knows. As I was going to buy in Dec, couldn't do it, going to buy last period couldn't do it, so thinking this is my last chance to get a little extra points out of the deal.
