Day Seven (Tue, April 1) Studios/Epcot
This is the last day for our park visits and we decide to start out at the Studios. We meant to get there for early entry but only beat the regular park opening by 10 minutes. The day promises to be warmer, but we take our sweatshirts and stow them in a locker ($5) at the front of the park for later. We are walking along and I see someone with a special backpack only given out at our company not sure if it is a salesrep and, therefore, someone I wouldnt know, I call out our company name and they turn around. It is someone from my office! We chat for a minute and then join my family at the Tower of Terror and Rock-n-Rollercoaster. We ride ToT twice the second time we all ham it up for the camera so I just have to buy the picture! My DH is just sitting there calmly reading a newspaper while the rest of us are screaming with our hands in the air!!! The line seems too long for RNR so we decide to come back.
Id heard a lot about the Millionaire game so we go back there and note that they dont open until later so get a Fastpass. Backstage Tour no, we didnt get selected like we did last time to be in the show but it was good. It is now time for Millionaire and we get let into the theatre. Hey, why are those people in such a rush? Wait, they are in the fast-finger row! Thats not fair! Wait, this cant be right doesnt everyone get a chance to be in the show? Thank goodness when the announcer came out he was able to clear this up and we all had an equal chance to get in the hotseat regardless of where we were sitting. The first fastest-finger question comes up and I hit buttons at random as I thought Id read on the boards. Darn! It didnt work. Well the person in the hotseat is there for a while. At one point she guessed a wrong answer and the audience all sighed so she changed her answer. Darn now she is there longer and we wont get a turn. I have the technique for the buttons down and get on the leader board at one point, but not at the top where it counts. The first contestant is done and the next person goes to the end of the show.
Hey, that was fun! Lets try to get in again from the stand-by line. We got in easily and were ready to wreak havoc now that we knew how this thing worked. Again, we did not get in the hot seat on the fastest-finger, but I was on the board! I remained on the board but never quite made it. Now for the second contestant hey three of the four of us are now on the leader board!!! Arent we good! Okay, finally she is done oh no, the game is over lets see how we did. My DD is at the TOP!!! She would have been in the hot seat!!! Darn. No, weve spent enough time here, lets go to lunch!
We order sandwiches ($26) at the ABC Commissary and proceed to an outside table as the weather is quite nice. Uh-oh he got the order wrong oh, well thats okay, well just eat it anyway. After that we go on Star Tours I go on it but keep my eyes closed. It is a shame that this ride is so boring. The waiting area, building, etc. are so neat, but I feel the actual ride is a letdown.
Anyway, the parade is going through and I get to see the top half of it. I guess we should have gotten there earlier if we were going to watch it. Next is the Animation tour which is always interesting. Wed better get a frozen banana and some ice cream ($7.50). DD gets her picture taken with a couple of the characters and then we go to the Indiana Jones Stunt Show.
We sit right down in the front row a little to the right and are debating whether or not I should try to be an extra I have been chosen on two separate visits. My DD wants to be in the show but is only 17. Oh, okay, I guess I will try but not too hard. Well, when the casting director is looking around, I wait until she glances at our section and then really let loose with the jumping and whooping yes, the lady in the white shirt!!!! Okay, this year I was in the group with the screamers so had to act scared and scream like we had just discovered someone who was dead. I make motions from the stage to my family to take my picture Oh, they already have the camera out! Great on to get my costume and sign the accident waiver (thats why you have to be at least 18). Im in my costume and then get to sit in the back with the other extras where we chat it up and find out where we are all from, etc. Then we are on and I try not to fall down the stairs on the way to the stage. [I am wearing sandals today because my tennis shoes made my bunions hurt, and now they want to come off and make me fall down in front of these 5,000+ people!!!] I make it to the stage okay, but Im sure the extras behind me were wondering why I was going so slowly. We do our thing and then are excused to turn in our costumes. We get a free glass of ice water for a thank you for being in the show!!! Wow!! Anyway, I carefully make it back down the stairs to my seat with my family and they all say I did really well. [Right! they are really glad that nobody we know saw me!!! but I had fun anyway.]
You know, I think Im starting to get a blister from these sandals. Hey, DD did you think of what that celebritys name was that we saw at AK the other day? Youve seen her on TV too, right? What is her name?
From there we go back to try to ride Rock-n-Rollercoaster the standby line doesnt seem too long so we get in. Well, we are standing there for about 10 min and dont seem to be moving much; meanwhile the Fastpass line is getting longer and longer. We decide to get out of line and head over to Epcot. Goodbye studios until our next trip!
Since I had heard about the pathway from the studios to Epcot, we decide to take our time by walking. It is not a bad walk about 20 min but that blister on my foot is getting bigger!! My DH and DD walk on ahead and I go slower with my DS. Im not worried because I have everyones tickets, so I know they have to wait for us to catch up before they can get in the park (ha, ha).
Once we are in Epcot we decide to sample some different items from the various lands first is the Beavertail from Canada. These are very similar to the Elephant Ears that you can get at the Midwest amusement parks and fairs. Very yummy!! From there we get an order of fish and chips (UK) and a cup of coffee (its getting cold). We share these amongst us while watching the end of the British Invasion show. This show was fun to watch and I think sounded better than the original Beatles.
On around the world we dont see much else that interests us in the eating department, so decide on chicken fingers at the American Adventure. They must have had something going on in the lobby area, because people were all dressed up with special passes and then there was a sign announcing some private party. It looked to be some business or other holding an evening reception.
We continue around WS and stop in Mexico. I was going to get a Margarita but decided I didnt want one enough to pay $7+. We were thinking that the Imagination pavilion was still open, even though we knew the rest of FW was closed, but it wasnt so we proceeded out the front of Epcot and rode the monorail to the TTA. From there we got a bus back to Ft. Wilderness and went to bed. We never did see Illuminations, but there is always next time.
