spring 2009

i had my interview august 29 at 1 (central time). It went ok i guess. I had colleen. I see that everyone has said she is really nice but with me she was just very business like and to the point. She asked some questions i wasnt really prepared for. she was telling me about the living situation and then out of the blue asked me what i would do if i had a roommate that was very messy. i told her that i would sit down one on one with her and talk to her about it first and see if we could work it out that way first.
Then after that she randomly asked me if i had any tattoos. Which i do. she asked where and what size (medium size panther on the left side on the back of my shoulder) then we moved on to what roles i wanted. I told her recreation was my first choice, then costuming, then attractions.

Recreation-she was explaining what recreation did and i asked her if i could request what job i wanted and where. She told me sure she could write it in her notes so i told her i wanted to work at a marina at Polynesian, wilderness lodge, and fort wilderness. she told me that my tattoo there could be a problem! i was so upset to hear that. she told me that if i did get it i would have to wear a polo over it all the time and maybe even wear makeup on the tattoo to make sure it is completely concealed. i told her that was fine and that i already had the special makeup to cover it. my only hope for getting this job now is the fact that i have lifeguarding experience

Costuming- we moved on to costuming. i told her that i loved working behind the scenes and that i was stage manager for the dance company at my college. she explained that i could be put in a job where i would have to carry soiled laundry, heavy lifting, and dealing with other cast member coustumes. i told her i understood and we moved on

Attractions- i got the infamous space mountain question and gave the usual answer. she asked if i was comfortable loading and unloaidng guests, operatiing rides, and speaking in front of crowds. i told her i didnt have a problem with it

Also, somewhere in the beginning she asked me about my job experience and what my favorite and least favorite job was. i told her my favorite was my daycare job and my least favorite was when i worked at applebees cuz i didnt like working around food. needless to say she didnt ask if i would consider qsf&b. she asked me if i wanted spring or spring advantage. i told her spring advantage and she asked if there were no more spring advantage spots available would spring be ok. i told her yes. it made me kind of nervous she asked that since its so early so i dont see y there would be no spring advantage available. she asked if i had any questions and i told her no, which was probably a mistake cuz i dont want her to think im not interested.

It only lasted 15 minutes. It didnt go as well as i had hoped but fingers crossed i will still get in anyway. :scared:

A college mom here, can I ask....what is the usual answer?? TIA

The question is "What would you do if a child was too small to ride space mountain?"

The "usual answer" is something along the lines of firstly apologizing to the kid and parents and getting down to the child's level so you aren't talking down to them. Then letting them know its for their safety, and such so they don't feel its their fault they cant go on the ride. then possibly suggesting another ride that might be similar to space mountain that they may want to go on or something along those lines.

This isn't a set in stone type of answer, just to give you a general idea.

I'm sure it went okay. Colleen was pretty to the point with me as well. I think maybe she was just frazzled because of all the interviews; that seems like the only rational reason for her sporatic questioning. My interview was pretty short too. But it is early on and it sounds like you answered to the best of your ability which is all you can do. I'm sure you won't have any problems

I would explain to the child that unfortunately they are not tall enough to ride safely...and we want them to stay safe. Then I would suggest other rides that they can do.

I had my Interview last wednesday and I got really nervous after reading everyones experiences. "Seewhattimesdone", I had an interview close to yours. But everyone keeps saying about how the interviewer asks questions about a situation you may get in in the role/s you picked. Molly (my interviewer) Never asked me any of those questions. I hope it's not a bad thing! I guess everyone is different. She did tell me there was no spring adv. QUARTER.. which is wrong because there is one. :sad2: But other than that it went swimmingly.:boat: :thumbsup2

I'm so glad that everything went well! That's interesting that she didn't ask you about the role situation. Everyone's interview experiences are SO different. Hope to see you there!

I'm sure it wasn't a big deal and she was just conducting it differently. Good luck!

Aly, your interview actually sounds a lot like mine (makes sense since you were right after me, eh? ;) ). After my answers, she would say "Okay, great" or "Awesome" but she didn't really seemed thrilled with any of my answers, and the more I've been thinking about it, the more nervous I get. But hearing that yours went pretty much the same way makes me feel much better! At the end when I asked her if I could request certain attractions she told me she could definitely put it in my notes, but nothing would be for sure and a lot of roles might already be filled. (It was still the first week of interviews! How could they all be filled?!) Anyway, I think she was just trying to stay neutral, you know, just in case they weren't able to fill my request. Don't worry about it, I'm sure everything will work out for both of us! :goodvibes

well that makes me feel better seewhatimesdone and meg. she said things like great and awesome and stuff too after some of my answers but like u said meg she didnt see particularly too thrilled about any of my answers. but all in all i think everything will be ok especially since it is so early in the year :)

I think the interviewers probably get really tired after talking to SO many people and having to ask the same questions XD They're probably just trying to get the basics out of the way and if you're answers are pretty much satisfactory they just move on.

You guys can call me Anna too if you want :flower3: (pronounced Ahna - don't know why my parents didn't spell it that way XD)

ha ha ok anna. i was just wondering what ur name was earlier when i was typing that post

I just interviewed today! I had Annette I believe. Since I'm a campus rep, the conversation was very laid back. I was still a little nervous but she was very personable. I told her my top picks are transportation(monorail pilot) and attractions(I can speak to large groups easily) She asked me several questions based on my desire to be in these roles. I was also given the space mountain question. Good thing I read this thread a week back :cool1: :cool1:

Anyway all is well and I can't wait to see where I get accepted! I will report back as soon as I know!

It sounds like everything went great. How awesome would that be if you got to drive the monorail :goodvibes

Immediately after I had my interview on Friday, I faxed and mailed my application off. I just got an email today confirming that they received my fax and reminding me to also mail the application if I hadn't already. They should have received my snail mail application yesterday or today, atleast that was the time frame that the post office told me when I mailed it.

I hope I don't have to wait too long. Colleen told me 2-4 weeks, but I am hoping that I get lucky and find out before the 2 weeks!

Has anyone NOT got an email yet? I've posted on a couple boards about this but I called today to see if they recieved my fax which was sent on Aug 25th and they put me on hold and came back to me saying " Yup! They have recieved your fax and everything looks good!".... ok they got it, but i have yet to get an email....

And thats making me nervous.

Someone mentioned to me that she never got an email and still got her acceptance letter 11 days later but im just wondering, basically. lol

ok nervous freak out rant over:)
