My 11 yo DD is very picky about sunscreen. She only likes the spray on kind in a can.

We have a 5 oz Neutrogena can. Is there any hope this can get through security if we just do carry ons?

Thanks

It does violate the TSA policy for liquids/gels and will be confiscated if it is discovered as you go through security. You can always try to sneak it through, but your chances of success probably are very low.

I don't want to try to sneak it through. I was just hoping that it might get through. I'll have to try to find a similar product once we get there or else DD will look like this::mad:

Just to clarify, I would never try to sneak something through or recommend to anyone that they try.

No, it won't get through. The can is metal and will be detected, and it doesn't count as a medical exception for the size limit (personally I think it should.)

Best way to handle it if you won't have a car and don't want to check bags is to mail them to yourself at the resort. Time it to arrive a day or two before you will.

I have actually flown cross-country with spray sunscreen in my checked baggage and didn't have a problem. I did, just in case, put them in a zip-lock bag when I packed them. :)

How do I address it? Just to myself in care of the resort?

thanks

checked bag is NOT the issue here. You can carry any amount of liquid/gel in your checked luggage, so long as it is not hazardous material.

the OP asked about carry on luggage as they will only be taking carry on items. I agree - ship the item ahead, or take a taxi to purchase the item, or find a different product.

Sorry, I misunderstood OP's question. I was merely suggesting that she could check it. :)

Ship it to GUEST [name], c/o [the resort name, with street address].

You will also want to write on the box (where it can be easily seen) ATTN Bell Services, hold for arrival [date], and include your reservation number. That way it will definitely be held at Bell Services for you, and a note will be placed in your reservation record that it has arrived, so they will see it when you check in.

For best results send it via UPS or Fedex, because they deliver directly to the resorts. The USPS mail goes to a central processing center first, which will delay it getting to the resort. I would time it to arrive a day or two before you, but not longer than that. (Not fair to ask them to hold it for a long period of time, IMO.)

If it's only the form that's important, and not the brand, the gift shops at the resorts have - hold on - Copportone (I think) continuous spray sunscreen.

I wish it were that easy.:sad2: DD has extremely sensitive skin. She breaks out from everything PLUS she doesn't like the 'feel' of most sunscreens. I have finally found one that she can tolerate in every way.

I think I'm going to ship it to make sure we're not troubled by sunburn! Or that I don't have to hog tie her to get her sunscreen on.

Thanks to everyone who posted!

You're welcome.

Another option MIGHT (depending on cost and shipping method) be to try drugstore.com, walgreens.com, or some similar site.
