Sports: Deflate-Gate

All true, except the only fact is 11 balls were deflated, but no one knows how or who were involved. And again, whoever is responsible should be held accountable, we just don't know who or how. I have never seen any public statement from the NFL on this though, can you link to it (other than stating they are investigating)?
Here's the internal statement, as reported by the Boston Globe:
According to a National Football League letter about the investigation into the controversy that was shared with the Globe, the Patriots were informed that the league’s initial findings indicated that the game balls did not meet specifications. The league inspected each of the Patriots’ 12 game balls twice at halftime, using different pressure gauges, and found footballs that were not properly inflated.
The NFL is withholding public comment until their investigation is done, but there was a letter stating the initial facts sent to the team, and Belichick also made reference to it in his statements.

So how do we feel now that the Colt player says he found nothing wrong with the ball, just wanted to keep it as a souvineer from the interception and that it was a Colt's ball, not a Patriot ball?? So the Colt's had deflated balls? :rotfl:

Really not feeling any different, if something is wrong then something is wrong.

Quite the opposite, I've been pretty much sticking to the facts in this case (other than an expression that historically I don't care for the team). I've never expressed an opinion as to any belief that Belichick or Brady had any hand in this matter. I have no clue. But it's not a fact to try and say that this "incident" at this point in time is no more than a rumor being spread by ESPN. Here's the established facts based on information from the NFL that has been distributed internally and what is generally known about the functioning of an NFL game:
- The balls in question were inspected before the game and found to be "in spec".
- The same balls were retested at half time and 11 of the 12 were found to have deflated by 2 PSI and under the allowable limit.
- It's generally recognized, even by Taxguy (let me know if I'm putting words in your mouth), that "something" was done with the balls between those two points in time that would have required the actions of someone.
- In all likelihood, the only persons that would have had access to the balls during that time were sideline officials or team personnel.

Agreed. I'm just puzzled as to WHEN they were deflated (as well as who).

Ok, yes, exactly, it stated the NFL is investigating the deflated balls, I saw that in the globe. But they haven't stated anything publically. Look, if something is wrong then something is wrong and something should happen, whatever the punishment is, but shouldn't we wait until we hear the findings to proclaim any guilt? I go back to my Bigfoot quote, at this point everyone is suspect .

Say what? I heard the part of him saying HE didn't feel anything wrong with the ball....because he doesn't handle them enough the know the difference. He gave it the equipment manager to "keep" as a souvenir and HE (the manager) thought it felt odd. I heard nothing about the original ball tested being a Colts game ball.

There IS guilt, just a matter of WHO is guilty. Belichick? Brady? Equipment manager? Ball Boy? Officials? Manufacturer?

You do realize that gives no specifics, right? The NFL hasn't come out and said how much under regulation the balls were. Basically all that says is something was wrong with them and that's it. Everything else that has come out is from leaks, so it's all just rumors.

Quite the opposite, it was reported, I believe, that in the initial finding that the Colts' balls were also tested at half time and found to be still "in spec".

Funny thought. Imagine if the Packers won, we would have discussions about underinflated and overinflated balls during this week, that would be a hoot.

Not what I meant. I'm talking about the intercepted ball that started this whole thing.

The league stated in the team letter that the "something wrong" was that they were under-inflated.

Just repeating what he said. I'm at work so I can't post a link, but I'll look it and do so when I get home. What I read was that the pats were playing with a colts ball in the second quarter.

I understand, but I thought it was being said here that one of the Colts' balls was under-inflated too... or did I miss something?

I'm starting to find all this ball talk funny. It was pretty hilarious when Brady said something like (can't remember exactly) " some guys like old balls".
Immature, yes but seriously all this talk about feeling and handling balls...:rotfl2:

I must have missed it, when did the refs find that the Packers were using over-inflated balls last weekend??? (And, yes, I'm aware of Rodgers' past comments about what he likes.)

True. The double meanings are endless. I also think way too much attention is being given to something so silly.

Not last weekend, earlier in the season Simms and Nance said in a game that Rodgers told them he likes over inflated balls.

A local sports radio talk show chopped his comments about old balls, new balls, scuffed balls and his routine of holding them, squeezing them, etc. You can imagine what they compiled with those statements. It's actually VERY funny. Granted, only me and my 11 year old son laugh, my wife doesn't see the humor. :rotfl:
