Earlier this year I read many great reports of Spoodles. Has anyone been there lately? I would love to give it a try, but I was wondering which might be more kid friendly, Spoodles or BRG&BW. We have a DS 5 and a DS 2. They are typically pretty good at restaurants (knock on wood :) ), but If Spoodles is quieter or fancier I would hate to distrupt other patrons.

If you think I should lean towards BRG&BW, do you have any great reviews to offer? Has anyone had the Hazelnut Crusted Chicken? I don't know why, but that sounds appealing to me! :goodvibes

Much thanks and Happy Holidays! ::MinnieMo

We just got back and we ate at Spoodles. DH said it was the best place we tried all week!

It was a nice place. :cool1: We were there when it opened so it was quiet at first and rapidly filled up. We were a bit noisy oursleves and I don't think we bothered anyone around us.

The salad was beyond yummy! And the bread was great too. We had steaks and shrimp and scallops and our kids had the seafood pasta. All were excellent and our server was super! We tipped her extra beyond the DDE tips.

For dessert we each tried a different thing and shared. The white chocolate orange cake was everyone's favorite. We also had the creme brulay, the chocolate pistachio apricot cake, some kind of raspberry sorbet and even just chocolate ice cream. All were fantastic!

Spoodles will definately be on our schedule for our next trip!

The reviews of Big River haven't been overall great. I went in Chatanooga a number of years back, and thought it was fine. But Spoodles is good, I'd go there.

Big River is a little cramped space-wise, and the food is pretty much plain, everyday fare. Spoodles is by far the better choice. It is as noisy as any other Disney restaurant when there are a lot of folks in attendance, so I would not worry about the little ones disrupting things, although Big River is always crowded and noisy, in our experience, anyway.

I second (third, fourth etc) Spoodles.

Both the food and service were spectacular.

I haven't had Spopdle but Big River was very cramped and the kids had to sit on chairs that were high (we had 5 kids with us, 4 5 and under and it was worriesome that they would fall off). Our favorite at the BW is the ESPN club. I think that for the portion size, it is a good deal to eat there. It is also noisy so you don't have to worry about your kids.

I didn't realize it was a chain. :confused3 Interesting!

So, it sounds like my kiddos will be welcomed at Spoodles. I am looking forward to giving it a try!

Much thanks! ::MinnieMo

Have eaten at both Spoodles and Big River. Spoodles was really hood for both lunch and dinner. Big River on teh other hand wsa one of the worst meals we've had anywhere- poorly prepared food and lousy service.

Funny you asked.....we've eaten at Spoodles and loved it...was contemplating going to big River.....and with all the negs on this board, DH just said lets go back to Spoodles!!!! Disney is the place for young and old...and so just go with a positive attitude....kids are kids...they're good most of the time and then sometimes they're just tired and can't be bothered waiting for food and sitting.....everyone eating at a Dis restaurant should be able to cope, and if not...too bad! It's nice to know that you're concerned with the other patrons....but as a mom of now a 23 yr. old....just go and have fun....enjoy the food and the company.....they grow up (even if you and they don't want them to) and they'll have great memories of family times!

I have eaten at the one in Chattanooga a number of times and in enjoy it.

We have eaten at Spoodles every trip .. at least once .. since they opened. Big River Grill is a place we go from time to time, but there is no way I would pick it over Spoodles.

FYI - you can't make a ADR at Big River.

It may only be a chain of 2. :) But I do remember the one in Chatanooga - it's been 6 years since I went, but we went occasionally while working on a film there. The food was decent, not terribly memorable, and the brewing part is lost on me since I don't drink beer. It was a neat atmosphere, though.

Please don't waste your time or money at Big River. My DS and I had lunch there back in June. It was our first and last visit. Far better places in the boardwalk area to eat. We thought we would try something different. It was a bad way to end our WDW vacation.

My wife and myself dined there about 2 weeks ago and really enjoyed it. Our meals and service were great. I had the Salmon and my wife had the Rigatoni Pasta, we both enjoyed our meals alot.
