I am watching Wife Swap right now and I am very confused

The family from Florida is supposed to be rich and successful. The mom in that family said that she always has to look her best b/c of all of the famous people in her neighborhood. They travel by limo and were looking at $1000+ dresses. Yet, their house is so unimpressive. Things that caught my eye were an old and dated bathroom and no landscaping whatsoever. Dying grass and chain link fences. Also, cheap furnishings (white particle board wardrobe). Weird. Is this show fake? It seems like they are stretching it in this episode.

And don't even get me started on the Florida dad

How dare they have those little girls sit on the bed and boast about "designer clothes"...What are they doing to those children?

I would imagine that they live WAY beyond their means as far as clothing and going out to upscale restaurants in limos are concerned

It must be a high rent area. The house was awful. The husband was such a jerk. The girls were sweet. I know Sarasota & Marco Island is very pricey & have the little bungalows. I did'nt think the FL mom was that flashy or made up it was weird. She looked really plan. In fact I am so annoyed with this florida couple we should post on the wife swap board & tell them what jerks they are.

I couldn't believe that dad. I was saying to DH that he was such a baby. How does a woman stay married to the man? He came down on the woman for hunting bear but I don't remember him being a vegetarian. I can't believe the school hasn't talked to the parents about the girls being late every day.

What were the girls doing wearing all that makeup? They were much too young for it.

Did the show ever say how old the sons were? They looked a little old to be sitting around the house and horsing around all the time.

I agree..That one could have been their father They seemed very lazy, but the mom and dad seemed nice.

I couldn't even watch that show. I saw the first few minutes (where they introduce the families). After the Florida husband opened his mouth for about the second time I had enough of him (and his totally awesome dudeness...come on....grow up).

I could hear bits and pieces because DH still had it on in the den. He was really p.o.'d by the end of it. He said if the WI woman had been his wife, he would probably have gotten physical with the "dude".

I agree that for all their "bragging" the FL family just didn't seem to be even a little bit "rich", much less as wealthy as they let on. DH said the FL wife was really nasty about trying to be superior to the WI family. I thought they seemed pretty normal (but I didn't see the whole show).

Someone else said that the FL Dude seemed like he didn't have a soul or something. I don't think he had a brain either!!

I was most disappointed that after saying how sweet the WI family was, the FL mom got so nasty at the end. I thought she would give her husband whatfor for not cooperating. The WI family at least took a shot at cooperating with her. I understood the dh was being jerky, but at the end she was all about sticking it to the WI family - and I just didn't get that after she'd been treated nicely by them.

Another great way to not promote the band is by going to their website. For a good laugh, listen to the Gemz obnoxious song in the media section. I watched Wife Swap tonight (switching between that and Deal or No Deal) and was thinking the same thing as many of you...how was this family so well-off. Maybe they're just saving. Anyway, that dad was a jerk (I'd love to type a "meaner" word than that, but this is the DISBoards...) who just love to play all day and leave his kids by the wayside...hmm...I have an uncle who treats my cousins that way, too...It's a shame, really.

Since "Goofy Lookin Dude Magazine" folded, he can't get any work." I half expected to hear that guy that was in Fla. dad's minor "work" scene to say, "Who the flip is this guy??"

Those parents were so disgusting to watch!! The dad was beyond a jerk, but I cannot say what I really think here.

The mom wasn't much better. I hope they see the show and realize how awful they look.

It's a classic case of stupid, annoying, rude, snobbish, lazy parents raising the next generation of stupid, annoying, rude, snobbish, lazy kids. So sad.

That Florida mom was so materialistic and shallow, I wonder if she views her husband as another pretty accessory. I mean, part of her must be very insecure to put so much emphasis on looks and appearances, particularly when she isn't all that gorgious herself.
