Splitting a 200 point VDH Contract

Just made my final VDH payment! Bought in September, delayed close to December. Sold some other resale points to make most of this happen. Feels good to own some direct points in full now, in CA!😎

Sharing the price sheet from Welcome Home Weeks if anyone wants to compare. I think current deals seem good but I miss the price sheets.

When you split your contract, what are the ramifications on the booking side? Anything?

We just closed on 200 DVH direct points and I can see the long term benefit of having smaller contracts if I need to sell later, but I didn't think about that when we bought.

Since I already have a serious case of add-on-itis, I think smaller bunches might be how I handle it. Particularly since we have 3 kids we'd be leaving these to in the future. Would give them flexibility too.

Just curious what kind of hoops I'd be going through while I'm using them.

No ramifications since they are in the same membership.

I have actually found it to be a bit of an advantage to have multiple smaller contracts. Even at the same resort

You can pick and choose if/when it uses banked borrowed points more easily.

For example last year I made it use banked and regular points on one contract only, because later I was going to use the banked points on our annual passes. So the passes took up most of the banked points eventually and not the reservation. So if we cancelled that reservation the remaining points would have been more flexible as standard points and not banked/borrowed

The only thing ive noticed about splitting contracts that I really dont like is that obvi you have to choose what contract you want to use first and let's say you have holding points in contract 1 and 2 and you choose contract 1, it will use all the points in contract one before jumping to contract 2. So alloted points in 1 will get used before holding points in 2.

I wish it would take all the "bad points" of each contract first lol. This just requires extra work but totally workable and no regrets here.

For example, I had holding points in two contracts, so I booked a 2 night stay with each night seperately and used up the holding points on both contracts, then requested a merge thru chat a d problem was solved!
