Next time we go to WDW it will be for 14 days. I would love to have the DDP but can't afford it for that long of a time.
So I was thinking of making two reservations one without DDP and one with.
My question is : has anyone done this before and if you have did you have to move sites ? Gosh I would hate to move after spending so long setting up, don't mine checking back in just don't want to have to set up camp twice.
TIA
This is exactly what we did last summer. I actually had 4 reservations:
1 - one night, room only, so I wouldn't have to pay for the DDP for the day we got there. (Hardly worth it if you arrive late, unless you want to have an extra table service for one of the big shows like Hoop-De-Doo or Aloha)
2 - five nights with DDP. Five was a bit too much for us. If I sign up for the DDP again, I'll only do 4 days of that. It is sooooooo much food, and it really makes you live with a schedule, when you have to be at a certain place for your ADR's booked half a year in advance.
3 - some nights (about 5?) room only in the campsite
4 - 3 nights at the Dolphin to let my kids stay in a hotel (on the 20th floor, no less!)
We were in a popup in the 2000 loop, and even though it was *very* crowded over Memorial Day, we never had to switch campsites. I made sure I biked over to the Outpost very early each day that we changed reservations, just to help avoid problems. They won't guarantee that you don't have to change sites, but it's fairly unlikely. I would also mention it to them when you check in, so if somebody's rented out your whole loop in the middle of your stay or they're closing that loop for maintenance, they can put you somewhere else from the beginning of your first reservation and let you stay in the same campsite the whole time.
Re: tickets, I had 10-day MYW tickets linked to my 2nd reservation. (They have to be on the reservation with the Dining Plan.) So even though I changed reservations, I didn't change park tickets, because 1 10-day ticket is way cheaper than a couple of smaller ones added together!
Have fun!
