Next time we go to WDW it will be for 14 days. I would love to have the DDP but can't afford it for that long of a time.

So I was thinking of making two reservations one without DDP and one with.

My question is : has anyone done this before and if you have did you have to move sites ? Gosh I would hate to move after spending so long setting up, don't mine checking back in just don't want to have to set up camp twice.

TIA :)

We stay 12 to 14 days also and I agree that the DDP would cost to much for our whole stay. Plus we dont eat that much but it would be nice to have it a few days. But there is no way I would move sites. Last trip we got there a day early but it was 10 p.m. so they gave us 2 sites in the 1800 loop. We just backed in and hooked up the elec. and that is it(we did unload the cart and went for a ride to :woohoo: excited :woohoo: to sleep, just a couple of big kids) no unhooking. Next day we got our sites in the 200 loop and set up camp.;)

One time I had to make two reservations because one day was in prime season and the rest of the week was value season. They did not make us switch sites. Of course they did the whole "warning" thing when we did the reservations but when we checked in I made sure they were aware of that we had two reservations. On the morning of our SECOND reservation I went to the check-in early before people started checking in for the day. I wouldn't think you would have a problem IMO.

For the last two trips 30 days from 20 Dec 2005 to 20 Jan 2006 and this time from 16 Dec 2007 to 26 Jan 2008 (We leave tomorrow :sad1: ) and have had multiple ressies each time. I think it was three in 2005 and four this time and have never had to change sites. What we do is when on the first ressie we tell them we have adjoining ressie at check-in and then about 5 days before a ressie expires we go and remind them at the front desk and on the day we are starting a new ressie we get there early like 9 to 10 AM and check in for the next ressie.

This is exactly what we did last summer. I actually had 4 reservations:

1 - one night, room only, so I wouldn't have to pay for the DDP for the day we got there. (Hardly worth it if you arrive late, unless you want to have an extra table service for one of the big shows like Hoop-De-Doo or Aloha)
2 - five nights with DDP. Five was a bit too much for us. If I sign up for the DDP again, I'll only do 4 days of that. It is sooooooo much food, and it really makes you live with a schedule, when you have to be at a certain place for your ADR's booked half a year in advance.
3 - some nights (about 5?) room only in the campsite
4 - 3 nights at the Dolphin to let my kids stay in a hotel (on the 20th floor, no less!)

We were in a popup in the 2000 loop, and even though it was *very* crowded over Memorial Day, we never had to switch campsites. I made sure I biked over to the Outpost very early each day that we changed reservations, just to help avoid problems. They won't guarantee that you don't have to change sites, but it's fairly unlikely. I would also mention it to them when you check in, so if somebody's rented out your whole loop in the middle of your stay or they're closing that loop for maintenance, they can put you somewhere else from the beginning of your first reservation and let you stay in the same campsite the whole time.

Re: tickets, I had 10-day MYW tickets linked to my 2nd reservation. (They have to be on the reservation with the Dining Plan.) So even though I changed reservations, I didn't change park tickets, because 1 10-day ticket is way cheaper than a couple of smaller ones added together!

Have fun! :goodvibes

I've had multiple reservations many times and have never had to change sites.

I even know someone one year who had two days missing in the middle of his 18 day stay, couldn't get reservations for that middle weekend ahead of time, but once he arrived, the two days magically opened up and he was able to stay in the same site the entire time.

Doesn't the DDP expire with the reservation?

If you split the trip into two reservations, you'll only have meals on the days specific to that reservation.

I thank that is what they are trying to do.:)

Yea, I plan on having the DDP for one week and just eating at the tt and outside WDW for the other week. Just can't afford DDP for 4 adults for 14 days..

I'm going over some numbers now to see if I wouldn't be better off just paying out of pocket for all meals since DDP doesn't include the tip..who the heck tips 20% where they live ? I would love to know...we tip 15% here and we have always thought we were high rollers :lmao:
Is that just a WDW thing or does everyone tip that everywhere ? :rolleyes1

I usually tip 20% if the service is good and 15% if it's so so. If a server makes a few appearances and acts like they enjoy being there I have tipped 30%. It's all in the tude.

Same thing here. But the big thing for me is if they can keep my drink full. They get the best tip when they just bring a pitcher to the table.:drinking1

Dh is the same way with his drink.

I thought 20% was pretty standard. And its lots easier to do the math :)

Geez who knew we were such cheap butts...never knew everyone tipped 20 % ....hehe...I just met some friends for lunch at Cracker Barrel and asked how much everyone tips..everyone said 15% asked the waitress she said she was new :confused3

Gotta love my area

Me & the DW have always worked in the food & beverage world...restaraunts, casinos, nightclubs, bartending, waiting tables, bookkeeping...just about every aspect of the job.....we tip 20% because we've been there and still ARE there...shes a cocktail server at Harrah's casino, I work for tips and tips alone as a dj in a nightclub. Sometimes, even if we get less than good service...we'll evaluate the situation...if its simply a bad server....10-15%, if its a server who has been overloaded by having 3 or 4 tables sat at the same time and is making a real attempt to do their best, we still tip 20%. Now if a server goes beyond the call of duty and makes our visit something special, we've tipped ridiculous amounts......over 100% on occasion.

Rog I bartended thru school so I know that feeling too. I usually tip on 2 go orders as well if the person asks if I need anything extra. One thing about tipping especially when you use a buy one get one free coupon or use any type of discount is to tip as if the bill would be without it. The server waited on 2 people and deserves to be tipped as so.

I've done my fair share of table waiting. I suck at it. So, I can really appreciate good service when I get it. If someone was just lousy, I may give 15 or even 10%. I'd never not give them anything, I mean they are still working. 20% is pretty standard.

For T'giving 2007 I pieced together 9 nights and it ended up in two reservations. They gave me the standard warning that we might have to move, but said it was unlikely. I called before we went to the parks on the last day of one ressie and first day of the next and they had us on a different site. The CM was able to fix it so we didn't have to move, but you never know. . .
