We are doing a split stay next month and I want to check in early (before breakfast) to our second hotel.

Has anyone checked in early at their second hotel? I know I can't get in the room, but wanted to get my KTTW and meal plan for breakfast.

DVC member services has told me I can check in early.... just wanted to see if anyone has done it.

I have been to the new resort as early as 8:00 am. One time, my room was ready!!!

But, most times it's not but it did give us access to our new dining plan credits which is what we wanted.

It is a crap shoot, if the room is clean and ready they will let you in. We did our last night at AKV when we arrived our room was not ready around 11 AM we went to AK for a while returned at 3 still not ready, we were told probably an hour, so I asked if any 1 bdrm savanna room was available and within 5 minutes we were heading to our room.

5:30 or 6 was the earliest, can't remember which it was. 6:30 another time. Once they've changed the computer over, you should be able to do so and that's generally around 4:30 am last I heard.

I checked in around 7AM once and a room was available, so I took it. Had to wake up the guys at AKL (before the villas were there) and get them to pack up. But we have also checked in around 7AM before and the room wasn't ready until almost 6PM.

We've done split stays twice, both times we checked in before 9. First time the room was ready, second time we waited until 4.

Thank you so much for the answers. I am hoping to check in before going into the park on our visit in July to activate the dining credits. It sounds like my only problem will be getting the family up early to do this.

Maybe you could send one adult to the new resort, while the other packs up the kids and belongings.

have done it several times with mixed results getting into the room early. Last two times were to be able to get the DDP on the room key in time for ADRs at lunch and it worked out perfectly. The second time we were on the bus to the park about 15 minutes after leaving the front desk when they called to say the room was ready. If you have a car then it will be a lot easier to get to the second resort that early in the morning. If not then allow yourself plenty of time to get from one to the other.

We have done several split stays. We have tried checking in early, though the room is not usually ready. In recent stays, when we have been on DDP, we check in early if we need to have access to those meal credits. If we have an early park day planned, we usually get to the second resort around 2pm.

I have twice done B2B room stays.
1st time - OKW to BLT, went over to CR, checked in at 07:00, and the room was ready.
2nd time - BWV to AKL, went over to check in at 07:30 and the room was ready.

I usually check in around 7 AM and we do split stays almost every visit.

We lucked out one trip and we were allowed to check in at 3:30 AM, yes, AM. We were moving from offsite to onsite. I usually don't sleep the night before we have to check out from someplace, so I had called just to see if I could bring most of our luggage over to bell services. They said yes, so my son and I drove over to Villas at Wilderness Lodge. When we got there it was empty, so I thought I would just talk to the CM about our room requests. I was shocked when she said they had a room ready and they could just take our luggage up. Of course, my son and I had to check the room out before going back offsite where the rest of our family was still sleeping.

We check in early to try to get our preferred room request. Sometimes the room is available, sometimes not. There have been times when a room was available, not what we wanted so we are always willing to wait!

Heck, I would have taken a nap in the new room before I went back for the family.:lmao:

Deb,
A long time ago, we had an overlap night at Wyndham Bonnet Creek and OKW. We would frequently do this when our children were younger to help make the transfer to the new resort easier. Well, we didn't have to check out of Bonnet Creek until the next day, but once we were all settled at OKW, my husband went back to Bonnet Creek around 8 PM to double check the room and check out. Well, I was waiting and waiting for him to come back and it was 11 PM and I was a nervous wreck calling his cell and calling the room at BC and getting no answer. You can imagine what I was thinking. Eventually I called the front desk at BC and was told no one had checked out, so they went up and checked the room and you guessed it...he had laid down for "just 5 minutes". :)
