I assume a taxi would be the easiest way to get from place to place. Is there disney transportation that goes from resort to resort?

I'm pretty sure the answer is no but I'm going to follow this thread anyway. :thumbsup2

No, Disney transp. goes from resort to park. You'd have to go to the closest park to the resort you're wanting to get to, and transfer to that resort bus.
When we do a split stay, I get a cab for us & our luggage.

But Disney will transport your luggage free, if you choose this route. Just phone Bell Service. People who choose this option usually leave luggage with Bell Service to transfer, then go to the parks. When they're ready, they'll take the park bus to new resort & check in sometime in the afternoon.

Taxi is your only choice to go direct from resort to resort.

We do a split stay on most of our trips. The hotels will transport the luggage from the first one to the next for you. All we do is bring some small bags and hop on the Disney bus (from hotel to park to hotel) to the next resort we are staying at. Of course, you could also take a taxi if you'd like as that would be your only direct resort-to-resort option.

There's no Disney transportation taking you from one resort to the next; you'll have to connect to a park or DTD. When we transferred from AKL to BC, we took the AKL bus to Animal Kingdom, then a bus to the Beach Club.

We are split staying between bay lake tower and animal kingdom and I'm just budgeting in the $20 to taxi from one to the other. It sounds so worth it to me!

Have fun!

contrary to everyone saying that a taxi is the only way we've twice in individual circumstances asked bell services if there is a van available to transport us over to our second resort and have been accommodated.
As well as another time at OKW a bell services member approached us sitting on the curb waiting for a cab and asked what were we waiting for, following our answer he said come with me, Loadade us into a van with our luggage and took us to our second resort.

Doesnt hurt to ask. Obviously its a 10-20 dollar tip for the help, basically the same as a cab fair, but disney cast members drive better than a cab and dont take longer routes so its worth giving to them instead of a cab.

Of course you dont have to tip them but they dont have to give you a ride in the first place

We usually do split stays as well. Since we seldom need to get park passes from the next resort, we always hand off our bags first thing in the morning (around 7ish), take what we need for the day in a backpack with us, then eat breakfast and head to a park that morning. Around lunchtime, we head to the 'new' resort, get checked in. Sometimes our room is ready, sometimes not. We have our bathing suits with us, so go for a swim if we want or get some lunch. Then, either head to a park or just hang at the resort until the room is ready.
Usually, the bags don't arrive until very late in the afternoon..after 5 or so.

Thank you for everyone's experiences. :worship:

My special needs daughter and I are going to try a split stay for the first time next spring (BW & AK). I was wondering how to go about getting ourselves and more importantly our luggage from one resort to the next.

Frankly I'm more concerned about how to get our luggage from the 1st to the 2nd resort; I have no issues using Disney buses with my daughter's wheel chair.

Your experiences have been very useful so thank you.

The bottom line I got from this thread was: speak to the concierge at the first resort and they should be able to help you. :yay:

As long as they can arrange for getting our luggage from the 1st to the 2nd resort, we can always spend a few hours at Disney Market Place between checkout and check-in.

Thank you again.

Disney Rocks!

Don't worry about transporting luggage (unless you want to). Just call the bellman and tell them you are moving to a new resort - they will handle your luggage for you and it will be transported to the new resort. The one time we did a split stay without a car we were also taken by van to our new resort. We were moving from CBR to Poly so thought that might be the reason (Mod to Deluxe). We love the split stay and it always seems to make the vacation feel longer. Would not do it though for stays of less than a week. Also ALWAYS move from a cheaper resort to a more expensive not the other way around.
