Hi.

Can anyone please explain to me exactly what I need to do for a split stay at each resort?

Also, what do you prefer to do on check in/out day?

Thank you.

I almost always split stay between a MK and Epcot resort, and like to do AK on the check in/out day. We bring our luggage down to bell services on our way to the bus in the morning, and then after we're done at the park we go to the new resort and stop by bell services to let them know to bring up the luggage.

Some people have said you should let the first resort know you're out of the room so that will trigger getting checked into the second resort. I've never done that before, but might do it on my next trip.

Thank you. Do you ever get a text from the second resort your room is ready while at the park?

Your only contact with checking out from the first resort is Bell Services? Is there something they will need from me to move our luggage to the second resort?

Also, what happens if I have food/beverages and want them moves to the second resort? What happens if I have stuff for fridge?

Thanks so much!

On my last trip I didn't receive a text message from the second resort. I know the text messages are sometimes inconsistent, so I'm not sure if that's because I didn't tell the front desk I was checking out of the first room. I ended up just checking in at the second resort when I got there. I can't remember if I got text messages for my second resort on trips in past years (my memory is not the best!).

In the past I've always only had contact with Bell Services. You just give them the luggage (you can also call and have them pick up luggage from the room, but I find it's quicker if I just bring the luggage down) and let them know which hotel you're moving to. They put your name and hotel down, and give you a slip of paper.

Let them know what you want refrigerated. I did it last time and it was seamless.

It can vary. I just had a split stay the week before last. Left VGF without doing anything and had done online check in for PVB. Got a text around 1:30pm or so with my room number.

But it doesn't always work that well and I've had to make visits to the front desk.

Mine was a last day just because of availability but I otherwise prefer if it's a single day I'm at one location to have it be the first day before we really settle in.

Move steps:
Have your items packed and ready for pickup.
On move day call Bell Services to come and pickup your items.
Tell Bell Services which items are to be keep cold and which frozen.
Go check-in to new resort and do whatever you have planned for the day.
When the room is ready and after @ 2-4 go to the room.
Call Bell Services of the check-in resort and they will deliver your items to the room.
You MUST be in the room for both the pickup and delivery. Tips expected.

FWIW I've *never* gotten a room-ready text or email based on online checkin. EVER. I've gotten *one* room-ready notification based on checking in at the hotel's front desk. Ever.

Room-ready texts aren't an absolute.

Go check-in to new resort

Not required if they did online checkin, or even if they didn't, it's not required until they want to head over there.

OP I'm not sure where you're staying, but one nice thing about staying at two resorts during a visit is that you can pool hop between the two resorts on checkin/out day. So if you're staying at a resort where pool hopping is normally not allowed for DVC members, you *can* that day. Kinda fun.

We love split stays (esp when one stay is only a night or two) bc then we add the dining plan to the short stay and get all of our character dining in. The kids’ character meals are generally more expensive than the cost of a kid’s dining plan. And if the one or two night stay is at the beginning of the trip, we get refillable mugs for the duration.
